The annual, "What are your summer plans?" thread!

Of course this is mostly aimed at those of us who are in post-secondary studies and have, or are about to, finish our semester. It may seem a bit premature for those of you in secondary school, but tough.

So? What do you have planned for the summer? Work? Travel? Running off to join the circus? Come one, come all, let us get excited about warmth, and time off!

Simple - go and see as many bands I like as possible - the less they tour in the UK the better, because they come around too rarely. Use the fact that this will necessitate me getting a train all over the place because NONE of these bands will come to swansea to go and visit other cities in britain. Apply for university and make a start on getting my acne scarring lasered off. Move out to a better city, preferably one that has a city centre larger than 7 streets. Use all of this activity to try and bring me away from the hermitlike existence I lead currently. Go and visit my mother in glasgow, and catch up with my little brother. Take him shopping for victorian clothes. As a secondary plot, get him in a dress. Shouldn't be tough. At the end of it, hope that I'm fixed.

Nothing at all.

You make me sad.

I'm going to be a slack ass and not work, and go to as many powwows as I can in the Quebec region, as long as the court lets me move in July! I need to find an apartment in Montreal still, but now that I'm in at McGill, most of my question marks have become satisfied exclamation marks, and all is good. Camping! Drinking! Dancing! Fucking! Yay for summer!

Please it was freezing this morning

Certainly not weather to go to the beach.

Why it's only 18 degrees at the moment, was about 11 degrees at 7 in the morning. And winter hasn't even started yet.

Research trip to New York (plus get to see Canada and Philadelphia), followed by four months of writing and archival dustiness. The weather peeps predict a hot summer here, so I may try to emigrate to Iceland for real this time. At the end of the summer I'm seeing Explosions in the Sky.

Oh poor you. It was 13 degrees here, but more like 5 with the windchill, and we bloody wear shorts and call it summer! Winter? Bitch, if it doesn't dip below -25, you don't legitimately get to call it winter. That's a law somewhere, I'm fairly certain.

I'm pretty sure the same law states that you don't get to call it summer unless you have a week long 40+ heatwave where the overnight temperature doesn't fall below 30. While most of the rest of summer you experience plus 30 degree days.

The Summer is a lie, I must work.

This is what I always hated about summer. I always looked forward to it because then I'd 'have time to hang out with friends' that I couldn't see much during the school year. But summer would come, and everyone would leave town or take two or three jobs, and you'd find yourself busier than ever and no closer to the parties you wanted to be puking your guts out at.

Well not this year biznitches! If I have to fly to Indonesia to visit my best friend, I will! Parties WILL be had!

I plan to finish remodeling my condo, update the bathroom, paint the kitchen, get new cabinets.....etc.

I will also be the loudest parent at my daughter's baseball games.

Other than that I intend to get dragged around by the kids going swimming and stuff.

In July we go to the firefly festival, which consists of about 200 people gathering lightening bugs into jars, at 1am we all meet up and release them together. It's the highlight of the summer.

I'm just going to spend it tooling round Europe for a month. First stop Germany, then head to Amsterdam for a couple of days, over to Oxford where a mate of mine's studying (and hopefully see Bill Bailey live), back to Europe and down to Switzerland to visit my Aunt and Uncle and then, with luck, to Italy.

Sit at home on my own bored, since I'm no longer in contact with any of my former friends from school. Summer employment not an option since I'm paranoid about being recognized by my (many) unfriends from school, and my parents don't think its 'safe' given my situation for me to work.

I'll be having the regular massive arguments with parents and the hostile atmosphere with a side order of 'can't you even be bothered to try and use the right name'. On the positive side, I will be on NSG a lot, since there is fuck all else for me to do after my finals.

(UvV seriously needs to update his wardrobe in Victorian style, but just can't afford it).

Anyway, I'm spending most of August either with friends or in the States for a family reunion (practically all of my family are Bible-belt Christians, which will make it... interesting). I know Kat, I've tried about a dozen different kinds. I had allergy tests done, I got screened for VDs (I do it once every 6 months to a year normally anyway, can't be too careful even though I'm not active), all kinds of things. In the end they basically just threw their hands up and said "Its gotta be trapped moisture." Such things as baby powder were suggested but to be honest I'm not out to have sex just for sex's sake I prefer to be in a relatively stable relationship with trust and respect and I haven't been with someone who didn't mind taking over the birth control aspect herself (or preferred too) anyway.
