But, because we have alot more people than you, youre generally going to get a higher proportion of criminals to go along with our samples...

That doesn't make any sense.

That doesn't make any sense.

If you have a larger base number of criminals in a given city, than another given city, then when you take the sample, the crime rate will be higher...

Due to the fact that there is a larger number of criminals in the former than the latter, due to higher population...

You are saying we have gone from below your violent crime rate, to doubling it within the last nine years?

What do you mean by 'the sample'? Population size does not increase crime rates, population density, maybe. But then the UK has a huge population density, probably higher than the US.

The sample, I mean is the 100000 people...and I would say that the population size does increase the sheer number of criminals because it increases the sheer number of the population in general...

Where are you getting your statistics from, I'm having trouble locating any regarding violent crime rate specifically. Murder rate however is a better measure, since different countries have different thresholds of what constitutes a violent crime, and that murder is much less likely to go unreported - unlike other violent crimes, that are consistently under-reported and it's very difficult to guess at the actual violent crime rate.

The US triples the UK at that.

Yes obviously it increases the absolute number, but not the proportion of criminals to non criminals - that's what the crime rate measures.

I would disagree, but, whatever, Im not noticing a crime problem in my neck of the woods, so kudos...

You'd be wrong.

Of course, it varies massively depending on where you are in the US. Same with the UK. For instance, you would notice a problem if you were in the middle of Compton LA.

It seems the difference is Europeans are more violent.
and Americans when they are violent do so more efficiently.
So European guns laws make sense because they can't control their violent tendencies as well.

Just making a generalization but I think Americans just may be more efficient and violent crime. It seems there is no screwing around when the decision is made to take someone out. I am sure there is many cultural differences that could be cited for this.

This of course leads to a reduction in violence because people here learn we don't mess around, and become polite.
