Eh, I'm getting used to the Beta forum. It's a change so it may take some time. I prefer the basic (bland) grey of the Jolt forum to the green though.

I am resistant change but I have yet to see all the new forum offers so we'll see.

It would absolutely suck if NSG were to lose all its old posts. But overall I like both forums equally and believe the new forum to have much more potential than this one.

We should all leave here and make mentioning that Jolt forums even existed a punishable by a burning at the stake.

I don't like the fact that every post on the new forum has Re:blah blah on every post in big letters. Or that the names of the posters are so small.

Eh, don't like it. Unless a MASSIVE amount of Generalites move to the new forum, I'll stick with this one. Either that or if they switch our accounts and all that, but even then, I like the Jolt Forums.

well, i was pretty affronted with the new forum, but (i've calmed down now, and) as far as i'm concerned its fine if...

a) we only have one set of forums, not two. so either we move entirely to that one, or scrap it. having both is silly and undermines both forums

if keeping the new ones...

b) get rid of the lurid green and have something more like this colour scheme. NSG has been this way for ages and a lot of us are very used to it

c) bring our postcounts over, and any other things that can be imported too (like friends, private messages, etc)

d) add a quick reply feature and the view post (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/images/nation_states/buttons/viewpost.gif) button, cos these are really useful. if phpbb can't do it, what about vBulletin?

Well, I still like this forum slightly more, but, like I said, only because of my post count I worked so hard for, lol, and the number of threads/users...

But, I also enjoy the new one quite well, Im posting on it, this, and GM at the same time, which is fun, lol...Although, I think it would do well to implement a few things from here, like the quick reply box Im using...

I do have a question though, does anyone know how to make the URL's in the sigs have names, rather than just the address on the new forums?

You all know how much fuss we make in Moderation when there's a new mod. We wouldn't do anyone out of their (extremely brief) day in the NS sun.

I suppose someone who's too new to remember Tsaraine might not know the story of the Kryptonite/technical glitch that robbed him of his powahs here, and might be surprised to see him wielding them over there, but that's all the basis I can see for that tale.

As for mods having more leeway, at the moment I've (voluntarily) got less, because I'm being all nicey-nice while people get used to the new home, and it looks to me as if my colleagues are too. There are about six threads there that would be closed or merged over here, but they've been left alone. I'm guessing we all figure that people need to get stuff out of their systems.

Try again (features are changing daily) and if it doesn't work, put it in Tech over there.

You can't do load testing until there are enough people to be a test. If you took the advice that was passed around so discreetly (and thanks to the Generalites and others who helped with that) you'll have backed up your favourite threads and be able to post them on the new one yourself if anything untoward happens.

Actually that is something I don't like in the other forums, is the emoticons. They look weird and strange, sure there are more of them to choose from than here but they are all pointy like and I don't like them.

Of course, back then they were on a server not configured to handle the load. We're running much better hardware/software now =p So far it looks like it'll pass the load test; at the current traffic level, even during peak hours the server is still over 95% idle.

Also, the layout, while similar, is horribly skinned. And Jolt doesn't have image limits. And Jolt does have reviews and news on games other than NS.

S'what those ads at the top and left sides of the page are for =p (Assuming you haven't got Adblock on, at least. :p) Apparently in the first month since NS hopped to it's own non-Jolt server, the ads more than covered the hosting expenses. We'll hafta see how that pans out with the forum tacked on as well, but.... only one way to find out!

I got to say I like the new one better. I could care less about post count. Although I would like an option to see all topics both foreign and domestic. That is from the new forum and a way to get back once you go down the rabbit hole to NSG land (jolt).

I hate the multi-quoting as the default. People are lazy. I know this to be true. It is an axiom I will not source, bitch. Pages will be filled with one sentence replies to huge facking quoted posts.

One thing I like about the layout here is the crispness and small quoting boxes (relatively speaking). Also the fact that each quote is not titled with the name of the thread. Cut down on the wasted space, like is done here, and I will be more pleased. Then again, who the fuck wants me pleased? I'm all NICE and shit when I'm pleased /lies.
