Women's activist groups in Kenya have slapped their partners with a week-long sex ban in protest over the infighting plaguing the national unity government.

Rather unusual and new as political pressure system.

On the other hand, it is not that new.

The Greek poet Aristophanes wrote in 411 BC the piece "Lysistrate, over the Athenian ladies to grab a sex strike to force their men to make work of peace between the city states.

Anyway, I believe it could work.

Good for them. I hope it does work. And is influential.

It almost failed in Lysistrata because the women, especially the younger ones, started missing sex as much as the men. If they can get past that particular problem, it should work.

So their partners are involved in this somehow?

Sorry stupid question but I had to ask

Not directly. They will ask the women of the politicians to follow their example.

And maybe they are out to have a countrywide strike. When all men are having no sex then... :)

The proper term should be 'Embargo'.

...they'll ask their partners why exactly they're being punished for the mistakes of the countries leaders?

I just don't see this working at all to be honest other than as a publicity move

Ah hookers. The most trustworthy of folk. Whats to stop them taking the money and working anyway?

send in the scabs!

pay prostitutes to join their strike.

I don't think they know just how much a Kenyan prostitute will do for a few pound.

but if they do succeed thats like 80% of the tourist industry gone :p

Uhu? So if you don't have sex for a week, you would consider rape ? :)

That would never work in the US. The Democrats would just hire hookers and the Republicans would visit airport bathroom stalls. :p

But it could be a problem when the boys of the Catholic priests join the sex ban. :)

I dont know ... I know the sterotype is all over that men cant handle not getting sex

But seriously, while I crave it, and enjoy it ... I hardly would compromise what I believe in just to get it (at least more then for a night :) )
