Get into fruitless debates about politics mostly. That's how I made my name. (Never said it was a good one):D

Read before you post. Most of the moderators recommend new people to go to something called The One-Stop Rules Shop, or something like that. I've never read it, but I do believe it is generally recommended.

Learn to google. If you hang out in General you will sooner or later say something that someone will demand you support with an online source, preferably academic, journalistic, and/or governmental.

I don't do the RP forums, but I believe they are pretty strict about role play etiquette and procedures.

Try not to take things personally.

And welcome. :)

Just a forum really to discuss everyday things and find out how insane you really are compared to the insanity that goes on here.

Suggestion:

Just post pics of yourself with cat ears or a corset. You will have friends immediately. If you are a guy and do this that would be even more memorable.

Start or join a thread about something going on in the world. But as long as we're here, tell us about what current events you know of and what you think about them.

Familiarise yourself with the rules. The One-Stop Rules Shop (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=416023). There is no excuse to not know the rules, especially when you ask for an overview.

Oh and welcome, I'm one of your friendly moderators. It is typically advised that you don't stick your fingers in my cage because I have been known to bite.

I dunno what exact current events u want, but here are some i know of:
well i know a couple things. There is the swine flue, Germany just reported its first case of it not too long ago, North Korea fired that so called "satelite" like 3 weeks ago or around that, i guess thats a few things. Like what exactly do u want for current events?

Ah, those have already been posted. How about this:

Go into threads, and make semi-relevant and maybe even completely relevant (SHOCKER!) posts, and reply to anyone who responds to you in a relevant manner. And don't insult them.

o and another thing, ive been noticing like this so called "games" and such. Like what is the point of them exactly? and also another quick question. Is there a way to actually make ur country stronger, or does it just randomly change over time?

As a general rule you need to be on top of something going on to post about it. Let's say a Meteor is heading for earth. It just pops on the CNN/BBC/Whatever home page. Link to that story you are interested in and add your two cents. However if you are not the first to post about it you may get your post merged or deleted because it's a copy cat. So look around before you post about something in the news. Make sure you are not repeating something already being discussed on the board.

I don't know the trick, but I've managed to keep my economy at "frightening" for almost 6 years now. The decisions you make on the issues control that. Your population increases with time.

Eh, it grows with time. I think what you're referring to is II. If you're planning to go over there, no offense intended mind you, fix your spelling. Over there, you roleplay what your nation does on the international stage. It's slightly affected by your nations population and spending and the sort, but for the most part, it's your skill at roleplaying.

Three pieces of advice if participating in II:
1) Have a dictionary handy or use spell check
2) Use propper grammer, avoid making text message-type posts like the plague.
3.) For god`s sake, be semi-realistic. Nobody has an invicible military.

Other than that, just watch and learn. If you`re lucky an experience RP`er will take you under their wing.

Drop the terms "u" for you and have your sentences grammatically correct such as capital letters at the start of eac sentence.

Hi, welcome. My only advice is - don't take things personally, if someone disagrees with you that doesn't mean he/she doesn't like you, it just means he/she disagrees with you. Ad hominem attacks are a big no-no - it's called flaming and it can get you mod-slapped.

Never, never, never underestimate LG - he has attack weasels.
