Things that infuriate you.

No Names Left Damn It

So, there's a "Things that offend you" thread, and I thought I'd jump on the bandwagon. Amongst the things that infuriate me are homophobia and transphobia (That isn't a word, I'm sure). I've actually gotten into a physical fight over the second one. Bigotry to that extent just makes my blood boil. How dare people discriminate against someone for something as ridiculous as their sexuality? Fucking dickheads. Anyway, enough of my ranting, now it's your turn. What drives you insane?

Here is the thing though. Despite all my bluster, I truely believe that the vast majority of the American right are in their day to day lives logical, rational, law abiding, decent human beings.

That doesnt make their politics any less repulsive, but I dont think the average American conservative is going to do anything extreme.

Being nice and friendly isn't what the Internet is for, though. It's where people go to let their inner bastard run wild like a fat guy at a buffet, due to the infinitely decreased possibility of getting clocked through a monitor.

As for being infuriated by something, I don't know, I'm too much of a cynic to really be infuriated by anything that people do, as that implies you expected something better from them. As much as I believe in prayer, I've never understood this mindset myself. It reminds me of an old joke my father used to tell:

A man is sitting on his porch as flood waters rise. A woman floats by in a boat, asking if the man needs help. "No, thank you," says the man, "I'm trusting in the Lord." The waters rise higher, sending the man upstairs. A raft full of people floats by his second story window. "Get in," they say, "there's plenty of room." "No thanks," says the man, "I'm trusting in the Lord." The flood waters keep rising, pushing the man up to the roof. A helicopter swoops in, lowering its ladder for the man. "Thanks anyway," shouts the man, "I'm trusting in the Lord." Finally, the man is swept away in the torrent and drowns. At the gates of Heaven, the man asks God, "Why didn't you save me?" "What do you mean?'' replies God, "I sent two boats and a helicopter."

The waters rise higher, sending the man upstairs.

Yeah, I have no problem with people praying.

I have a problem with people getting their little kids killed by easily curable diseases.

Yeah, the way I figure it, God made us smart enough to invent vaccines and antibiotics for a reason.

Hat tip to the thread on the front page:

Gender roles.

Though I don't know if they infuriate me, precisely, so much as I simply have no patience left for them.

I cannot even begin to count the number of hours I wasted during my childhood because of people trying to enforce gender roles. I was constantly having to explain to adults that no, thank you, I don't want the baby doll, I'd like the Lego set please. No, thank you, I'm quite sure that when I asked for the Zelda game I didn't really mean that I wanted Barbie's Dream House. No sir, when I came by with fliers for my lawn mowing business I really wasn't looking for a job babysitting. I appreciate the help, ma'am, but my bike actually needs a new chain a lot more than it needs that darling wicker basket you'd like to put on the front. And yes, adults everywhere, I actually AM able to see a wide range of the color spectrum, extending well beyond pink and pastel purple!

I don't know, they might actually be better at seeing colors then men. Who do you think is responsible for 'teal', 'magenta' or 15 different shades of white?

Be silent with your feminist propaganda.

People who irrationally cling on to opinions and beliefs that have been shown to be completely wrong.

EDIT: I'd also like to add smug self-righteousness to that.

No need to admit your sin to the rest of us

What gets me is other drivers that think you're using your car's turn signal as a sign they should speed up to block you from making a lane change.
