greed and death

Well me being as cheap as I am. I made a pot of coffee in preparation for an all nighter. However by the time the pot was brewed I had decided to go to sleep and wake up early to work on the project instead.
So I ut the coffee in a thermos to save it. then forgot about it for a few days.
And I am drinking ti right now and it actually taste pretty good.

so my question is how long will coffee sit? and how long will you let coffee sit and still drink it?

I have no idea how long it will sit. I've never let it sit long enough to find out. If I don't drink it within 20 minutes of brewing it, I toss it.

I've drank coffee 3 days old. I heat it up in the microwave in my cup and tastes no different to me. It does what I want it to do. But I'm not really in to coffee.

Nah, it's fine. If you took it off the heat is won't have stewed. Put a little salt in it if it is too acid, that's all.

it's not going to hurt you. I didn't see no type of mold on that coffee i spoke of. But it was strong coffeee.. maybe coffee has a certain resistance to mold in it? i dunno. never looked it up.

So it isn't stewed, and there is nothing to give a shit about. I like cold coffee, it reminds me of my SBS days.

I think the kind I've drank mostly (my dads) is an off brand from WalMart. Arabica instant.

As long as it's warm it can go for awhile.

I once worked for a truck company. The drivers had a habit of needing a spoon for their coffee.

I didn't understand that till I had to work the graveyard shift for awhile. Then there was a time I had to pull the shift for 15 days straight. Tar kept me going in the end.....

I didn't realise the recession was hitting the US so hard - should we send over some ships with cargoes of tea as emergency relief?

I am a college student we are cheap even in good times.
Though a donation of tea or cash is always welcomed.

I loved cold brew coffee. I can't find the brewer and packages for sale anymore though. Not that I would have the money for it.

Why would you need extra equipment. All you need is another jug. Once the brew is complete just use whatever you normally used to filter the grinds out, like a caffetier or a paper filter. Or am I missing something... I've never made cold brew before.

Back when it was popular a true cold brew used pressure rather then heat to brew the coffee. It is like tea you got to reach certain temperatures to extract.
The way around that is to use pressure.

Purists will tell you that it's good for about half an hour, or so. At work, I typically mix pots together to get an empty vessel for a new pot. One of them saw me doing that and read me the riot act. I'd never noticed any difference until the pot cooks down far enough to be thick and taste burnt.

It's called being eco-friendly now. Seesh.

I've drunk coffee up to three days old (didn't keep it in the fridge). Was still ok.
Once I forgot a pot of coffee on the table for a week and I found molds in it. So a week is definitely too much.

I imagine if you put some booze in the coffee that might help it keep.

.

I am not nor will I ever be eco friendly.
My view point is and always will be that if there is anything left of the enviroment after I die I have not used the world to its fullest potential.

I looked it up and time can work.
the problem with that is well I would forget about the coffee for 3 months. I need it brewed with in 5 minutes of starting it.

pffft

anyone who can drink and enjoy 2 day old coffee doesnt need to get involved with expensive brewing techniques.

save the fancy stuff for special occasions (while visiting a friend who has the conceit that she is a coffee gourmet)

As long as you don't increase the taxes on it.

well if it gets mold on top of it its no good, but if you scrape that off you can probably still nuke it.

i'd never put it in a thermous though. i put mine in the fridge. then i can have it cold. i usually mix it that way with the chocklet milk i have on my cherioes. or again. if i do want it hot, that's why god made micro-waves.
