Irony

So I work in a call centre, ringing people up in the middle of dinner asking for money. On Thursday, I on my list was an "R. Astley". Yes, R. Astley. When I called up, I was planning on dropping a reference in, but alas, I was confronted not with a Mr. R Astley's residence, but instead was greeted by "Tony's towing service how may I help you?". We get wrong numbers like that all the time, but this was different. I have since labelled it the inverse rickroll. The irony of the situation was sadly lost on my coworkers, but I thought it was funny.

So NSG, what have you experienced recently which you would say was ironic? Do you consider the above ironic? Thoughts...

Thats not Ironic, its just coincidental!

"The use of words expressing something other than their
literal intention. Now that IS irony!"

You always seem to have an answer to everything. I loved the first one.

Right wingers are immune to irony (see: "Tomorrow Belongs to Me), but this results in non-right wingers being unable to see the original, intended irony (see: accusations of antisemitism leveled at the writers of "Tomorrow Belongs to Me").
I'm sure there is irony somewhere in that whole business.

That's only one definiton of irony. There are differenty types (situational, dramatic, etc.) and different uses. The OP's story could easily be made ironic by adding a bit of appropriate context.
