I normally abhor Fox News, but yeah, he's right. Whether torture works or not is not the issue. It's an horrible violation of basic human rights, and there is no justifying it in a civilized society, otherwise we become just as bad as the terrorists we're supposedly above morally.

That's pretty much my feelings.

I may live in Australia, but we still have Fox. At least now I can watch it without cringing.

Hannity and O'Reilly still support torture and argue that techniques from the book of torture and ruled as torture before are not torture.

I'm rooting for MSNBC to pick him up because it would give Murdock a coronary.

Good for Smith. Now he just needs to realize the lie he's been living and get an honest job, for his soul's sake.

Well anything that has a chance to kill Murdoch can only be good for freedom of information. Totalitarian bastard.

The creepy looking guy! I remember him! He's in the one previous instance of FoxNews coverage that made me not want to kill myself - except I totally can't remember what it was. It wasn't too long ago, so probably during the presidential campaign? Damn, I can't even remember who/what it was about. That'll drive me crazy...

Edit: Found it: Despairing after an Interview with Joe the Plumber (5:00 and on if you want to spare yourself the pain of sitting through the garbage) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=71iNvPQXuk0)

Does he say 'oops' a couple of seconds afterwords?

He just has a big square cardboard head. He can't help it. He was born that way ... a carton-head... Sad.

Wow, he was genuinly pissed too.

Awesome. Too bad he probably wont be around much longer. Hannity will probably sneak into his house and smother him with a pillow while he sleeps.

Here's more of Shep Smith being a BAMF.

Republicans know torture is illegal, but they believe themselves the arbiters of moral superiority and can thus rule waterboarding isn't torture. Also because right-wing talking heads say it isn't. It's not torture because they say it isn't and thus it isn't illegal. In spite of the fact we executed Japanese for waterboarding troops; court martialed our own troops for waterboarding Filipinos; and the CIA pulled the techniques from the military's training manual on how to resist torture.
