is purpose a mineral?

Where can purpose be found? Is it a mineral?

When you work to right a wrong, and find the same old hypocrisy among those on your side again and again until you want to say "stuff it, I'm going to do something else", how do you go about finding another wrong to right?

When you have built the same thing so many times it now appears like an utterly useless thing to you, how do you think up something else to create?

When your priest is the opposite of a saint, where do you find a new belief system (or how do you stop believing, if that's what you prefer)?

When, well, whatever it is that gives your life purpose...

In other words, when it's time for a real change, what do you do?

Drinking is good, there is nothing like a serious hangover to put the world and everything into perspective.

But I echo Call To Power's question, what are you asking here? Sounds to me like your faith has been shaken by something.

Actually, no, I'm bored of it already.

change what I can despite what others say. other people don't want improvement, they just want consistancy.

Well, I decided to stop doing all the things that make me bitter (as far as possible, anyway). That does lead to the question what I should do with my time now :p .

I can solve that problem myself. In fact I think I already have.

I'm just curious what others would do or have done when they're ready to start something new and don't know yet what that new thing should be.

By the way, purpose is not a mineral, it is a vitamin.

Do you mean changing yourself or changing the world? I think the second bit of your reply is true in both cases.

Find a hobby? Many people enjoy needlework ... :p So ready for a change but not sure what, huh? Yeah, that wants some real thought. I mean, if it's career we're talking about, one might want to get some training or talk to people in other lines of work to see what they like and don't like, if it's lifestyle, all sorts of things one can change, from joining a gym to getting a different haircut.

A career change is not possible for me at the moment, if I don't finish university I will have to pay back a LOT of money... But I won't continue in my field, that's for sure.

For now I'll rid myself of my "hobby" of being angry on the net.
I used to help build a web/community based company, until the founder became a religious follower of Ayn Rand... and from there things went downhill but stayed equally addictive.
I will probably spend my internet time on playing televangelist (not literally) on youtube instead. In the days of the company I used to have something not unlike fans, I'll find myself some new ones...

I will spend less time on the net in general (*gasp!* heresy!) and work on the book more...

Gym: good idea.

Haircut: not until it becomes a problem while taking a *cough* never mind.

Anyway, I didn't mean for this to be a bloggy thread about me, sorry if I sounded desperate or suicidal or something. I'm just curious about how others go about changing themselves.

There are 6 billion other people on this planet so changing the world is going to take a bit more hard work than changing yourself.

You want to stop doing things that make you bitter which is an excellent start. Where to go from there? You are your own person so only you can really have any input on that despite what others in your life may try and tell you. Tell those others to fuck off.

Well.... for me, it starts with the decision. From there, I just disconnect every part of me from the one thing that I want to change, and then float until something new and interesting comes along. In other words, simply tell yourself you're not going to take it anymore and walk away.

Or drink, I suppose, but I've never liked drinking to solve a problem. It usually only complicates things.

It's an awful solution when your problem is drinking :) .

Purpose is a path, sometimes set down in stone, sometimes newly beaten, and, every now and then, forged anew.

And then there are people like me, who meander and just enjoy the view.:D

Purpose is a chemical derived from porpoises. So, if you want a greater ability to persevere, you must find one of these cute little guys (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porpoises), melt it down, pour it into a centrifuge, and run the centrifuge for 35 minutes.
