That is perhaps strange, but not funny.
It violates Google's first principle: "do no evil." It does evil, by portraying Google as a participant of an essentially US-only in-joke. It does evil by presenting itself as US-centric.
"Self-criticism" is the best I can make of it. "Tradition" is the median interpretation. "Fuck you buddy, we ARE a mouthpiece of US populism" is the worst interpretation.
Have no doubt, the merchants and slavers of ignorance will have no difficulty using this, and many other "in-jokes" of Google, to utterly discredit the entire internet as a diverse source of information. If the oppressor's purpose is to keep an internet user in a "sandpit," in a fishbowl, and grant the user only a subset of the internet: this kind of in-joke only plays into their hands.
*sigh*
Probably, no organisation can be as powerful as Google and yet do no evil. Arms and armour make one clumsy.

Purely a US joke? What about the French? No man I'm willing to bet that every hot blooded English man would disgree with you there. :D

I think it's safe to say that most (Western) countries have some stereotype going about the French, even if some are more vociferous than others.
Edit: Also, I think "French Military Victories" redirecting to losses was something called a "Google-bomb," a user-generated quasi-hack sort of thing. It isn't Google messing with the French.

So what? That English speakers would collectively bear a grudge for what they should be proud of (fighting with France in the world wars) or perhaps bear a grudge from centuries ago when France and England fought ...
If Google cannot resist making jokes, perhaps they could restrain themselves to puns, or toilet humour, or self-deprecation. That's a nationalistic joke, and as such barely better than a racist joke.
It wouldn't even be funny if SaintB made it. It sure as fuck isn't funny coming from the internet portal par excellence.
(And how long can a "googlebomb" endure before leaving it there becomes deliberate policy by Google? They oppose -- obviously -- the abuse of their ranking system, so why not do something about it?)

Are you sure it's Google? Again, I thought it was a user-generated phenomenon, where some group of users manipulate the ranking of the search results somehow. There have been anti-Bush and anti-Microsoft Googlebombs in the past. Not that I'm a big Google fan, but I think they're uninvolved in that.
Edit: you're probably right that they know about the different Googlebombs. My guess is that they allow it to draw traffic, and because selectively stopping one Googlebomb and not others would look prejudicial.

Meh! The opprative word in all this being 'joke'. I like jokes, I tend to laugh at them if I find them funny, yep even the odd racist one.

And as to this piece of rubbish: it also works for 0 times a week wanting chocolate. In that case, the third place in the result (hundreds) is a zero. It kind of gives the game away, though, doesn't it? That the number of times a week wanting chocolate is quite irrelevant.
And it doesn't work for people who are one hundred years old or older, so it's ageist. I find that offensive!

I really don't think we're anti-French as a country, at any rate. We visit France in large numbers relative to other non-English-speaking countries.

French Military Victories
With a history dating as far back as the Roman Empire (then as the Gauls - which we include as France here - and later as the Franks), French military exploits and some forgettable moments can cover some hundreds of years. This, our ever-growing list, showcases the ups and downs as related to the French empire throughout its long-established military history - remember this is the empire that established the knight as the mounted chivalric warrior, produced military tacticians such as Joan of Arc and Napoleon Bonaparte and the nation that would go on to earn military victories against many of the principalities governing Europe and the Middle East in their time.
NOTE: The Franks were actually the beginnings of both the French and German peoples. As such, those victories are often claimed by both sides but we have included them here as French Military Victories.

Purely a US joke? What about the French? No man I'm willing to bet that every hot blooded English man would disgree with you there. :D
I dunno, I think in the UK we like to rub in the times we beat them, because through the history there's a good number of times they beat us. It's a rivalry thing - whereas from the US it always seems a lot more dismissive.
I mean seriously, France was a major power in Europe pretty much since the fall of the Roman empire - no one can serioulsy think they never won anything :P
For truly blessed's list - I note it misses out all the wars between England and the other parts of the UK, Or indeed between Scotland or Wales and other countries - which makes life complicated I will admit. Actually it seems to miss out most wars not with France (like the defeat of the Spanish Armada, the wars in India, China, Africa and elsewhere - how do you think we got our Empire, by asking for it? :p). If you're going to do the comparison, you may as well get it all in there :p

You can say the same thing about Quebec, which is on our continent. Okay so they don't really like us. We have had a series of conflicts. Unfortunately they came out on the losing end of some of those conflicts. Since the very beginning we have been fighting off and on. Now fortunately we have had peace for several generations. We do still kid each other. No one doubts the French military power. When they get their act together they are a very powerful force. We did the same thing with the Russian and the Chinese.

Me an anachronism? I suppose it is possible. I must have missed the offense? I think everyone knows the French military has been very successful. Napoleon had an awesome military mind. His memoirs and tactics are still taught to this day in schools of higher education. It is meant to be absurd, I think.

Your age by chocolate!
1. First of all, pick the number of times a week that you would like to have chocolate (more than once but less than 10)
2. Multiply this number by 2 (just to be bold)
3. Add 5
4. Multiply it by 50
5. If you have already had your birthday this year add 1759 ..
If you haven't, add 1758.
6. Now subtract the four digit year that you were born.
You should have a three digit number the first number is the one you started with the second number is your age.
Algebra.
1. x
2. 2x
3. 2x + 5
4. 100x + 250
5. 100x + 2009
6. 100x + 2009 - Year of Birth
100x = First number was multiplied by 100, hence it's the first number.
Current year - year of birth = Age.
Thank you, come again.
EDIT: Also, logically, it won't work if you're 100 or older.
