The pished thread

Okay guys I have a question involving drunken etiquette and its this:

is it moral to be drunk around children? if yes how much so and how do you feel about the drinking being visible?

Now I'm not a bad person and I have always actively hided drink from view of children but back when I worked with children I did have the odd drink at lunchtime in a completely 18 year old way.

but I'm talking to a girl now who isn't up for a pub meet because of her moral standards, what do you think of this? was I immoral for suggesting it?

why do people keep booking themselves in for my weekends when I don't like future plans?!

I am not pished this is how I normally post

Why isn't she up for the meet?

Is she a child?

That's wrong CTP, wrong and bad.

Why isn't she up for the meet?

cus being drunk around children (and in the workplace maybe) is apparently a bad thing

Is she a child?

hey as long as she says shes old enough to get in the saddle >_>

Ok, how does drinking in front of children end up with a woman (hopefully is of legal age) who won't meet you in a pub?

Because they like hanging out with you, see it as a compliment. And I feel for you, because I have exactly the same problem :)

There is nothing immoral about drinking around children. Provided of course a good example is set by exercising moderation so that the child(ren) can see that drinking is just part of every day life. Treating it as something of taboo creates an environment where children aren't familiar with it and may have a different reaction than those accustomed to it.

no its not immoral to be drunk around children. as long as you can behave yourself in a moral manner while drunk (no groping strange women, no going into rages and beating up the kids) its just another fact of life that kids need to learn about.

it IS immoral to be drunk when you are taking care of the children though. you need to be in your right mind in case of emergency.

is it moral to be drunk around children?"Hey, here's a switch... Now daddy is going to throw up on you!" Robin Williams.

if yes how much so and how do you feel about the drinking being visible? I don't drink. that would be up to the drinker and their ability to control themselves when pished.

Now I'm not a bad person and I have always actively hided drink from view of children but back when I worked with children I did have the odd drink at lunchtime in a completely 18 year old way.
an odd drink =|= Drunk.

but I'm talking to a girl now who isn't up for a pub meet because of her moral standards, what do you think of this? was I immoral for suggesting it? no. but can you meet her in a non-drinking environment?

why do people keep booking themselves in for my weekends when I don't like future plans?! just because YOU don't like to plan ahead...

If she's working, of course she shouldn't be drinking!

Why bother getting drunk at all if you aren't allowed to grope strange women, go into rages and beat up kids? They are the best parts of it!

Is it wrong to be in a state where you say inappropriate things, start crying for no reason, and may throw up on people around you? Of course not, it's what the little munchkins themselves do. They'll probably think you're just one of them.

oh good god what have I done!?! *cue humans clinging onto my every limb*

I don't understand. Does she not drink?

not when it comes to being around children not even a little

so that the child(ren) can see that drinking is just part of every day life.

you see this is my logic in countries that are more open about drinking like say France they don't get the same binge culture we have yet our efforts to tackle drink always revolve around making the stuff more taboo

no. but can you meet her in a non-drinking environment?

lots of Nachos + one or two Jack + coke = lunch

simple formula that involves a meal deal

just because YOU don't like to plan ahead...

I have commitment issues that stem from me not wanting to get out of bed/TV seat and do stuff :p

If she's working, of course she shouldn't be drinking!

lies as long as you can actually fulfill the jobs role it shouldn't be too much of a problem or at least isn't in my view

It's not immoral. Maybe just stupid.

1.Just drop her - if she's so bigoted to think that going to a pub is immoral you are saving yourself a lot of trouble by dropping her.
2.No.

When I was 22, I was at a party and a girl there had never drunk before. She then proceeded to get pissed on half a can of strongbow. And when I say pissed I mean pissed. Totally out of it and collapsing everywhere.
