2nd person dies from Indianapolis sword fight

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Police in Indianapolis say a 69-year-old man is the second person to die of injuries suffered in a sword fight with a younger relative.

Authorities say Adolf Stegbauer died Monday, four days after an argument escalated into the fight with 39-year-old Christopher Rondeau.

Police said Stegbauer's death had been ruled a homicide.

Stegbauer's 77-year-old sister-in-law, Franziska, was fatally stabbed while trying to break up the fight.

Rondeau, who is her grandson, also was wounded.

Rondeau was being held on preliminary charges of attempted murder and police Lt. Dawn Snyder said amended charges were being prepared.

Investigators said one of the weapons was a World War II-era Japanese sword with a thin blade.

So, when will we get a US version of Japan's "Firearms and Sword Law"?

You won't, or at least not until several decades after firearms are obsolete. The US has this thing called the Second Amendment, which runs precisely counter to weapons regulations of Japan. There it's "everything is prohibited, save for specific legally recognized categories"; in the States it's "everything is permitted, save for specific legally recognized categories". You can quibble over the categories, but outlawing weaponry by blanket fiat is not going to fly in the US of A.

In space, no one can hear you scream.

Online, no one can hear you being facetious... :p

Why don't they put up 'Sword Free Zone' signs? Once you put those up, nobody dares dream of disobeying the sign and carrying swords anyways.

But don't signs and laws magicly prevent whatever they are against from happening?

One question I have is, who the fuck thought a sword fight was a good idea? Maybe this could be seen as weeding out the genetic sludge in the gene pool.

Apparently. That's why everything that's not expressly permitted should be forbidden. We need to be protected from ourselves by the people who know better.

I'd say a WW II era Japanese sword with a thin blade, maybe a katana?

That one was better, could've cut out the beginning and get right to the sword fight though.
