Thanks Kat on both accounts.

I'm working on going back to college (just got approved for some grants pending enrollment) and potentially changing jobs too so I'm trying to find a legit way to tie this whole thing in with a rebirth. Regardless I am in a much much better mood than I have been in months.

I'd be out in those fields but I require another human being; preferably female, and I can't seem to find one of them around here.

Still using the Julian calendar? ;)

Do you have Easter eggs too?

Basically, but it's slightly more complicated than that.

Most Orthodox churches use the revised Julian Calendar.

Which essentially means that fixed feasts (ie, Christmas) are usually on the same day as their Western counterparts, but moveable feasts (ie, Easter/Pascha) follow their original Julian date.

The main exception is Russia, where the Orthodox Church continues to use the unrevised Julian Calendar for all church calculations.

Which means that Orthodox Easter is always the same date across the Orthodox Church, but that Orthodox Christmas comes later in Russia (currently January 7).

Clear? ;)

Don't worry, most Orthodox find Orthodox jurisdictional disputes faintly hilarious too.

And yes, we have Paschal Eggs.

Yes, if you follow the church calendar. For me, I have vacation right now, so now's Easter for me.

And I spent it reading all of the Adventures of Doctor McNinja.

I didn't do anything for spring. I was too busy making a new art object for a show. I finished it today. It goes to the gallery tomorrow. On Tuesday, I'll by some plants, color some eggs, and ceremonially clean something in my house.

Would be nice, wouldn't it. Here, we had a heavy snow this morning that turned into freezing rain in the afternoon. The trees aren't even thinking about leaves yet and the one bush that decided to bloom is now frost-blighted. Aah, Spring in the Rockies.

That's better than what our church, Disciples of the Holy God-Man, does. We use the Gregorian calendar, but calculate the date based on the phases of a moon that does not orbit earth. Phobos, I believe. Sending people to Mars and back to look at it is a bit of a pain, especially if they confuse Deimos for the right one.
