How often do you meditate?

(inspired by the prayer thread)

Meditation is something that I don't do very often, partly because I don't really know how to do it properly (or at least I don't feel like I do) and I get distracted easily (which would probably get better if I practiced more), but it is something that I find very relaxing when I do manage to sit still for a while and do it.

In addition to being relaxing, people who are trained in proper techniques and meditate regularly show actual physical differences in the functioning of their brains compared to someone who does not meditate. And there are some studies which indicate that regular meditation increases a person's tendency towards kindness and compassion as well as increasing attention span and creative thought.

So... how often do you meditate?/ Would you like to relate experiences about meditation?

I only meditate when I am low on mana. *nod*

A couple of times a week. I find it hard to find the time. I do some on the train which is less than idea circumstances but it seems to slow the heart rate.

Yeah, finding the time is always a problem. I find it especially difficult because it's really hard to do when I'm not in a quiet environment. I'm thinking of joining this meditation group nearby and conforming to their scheduled sittings. This way it can become part of my routine and I can get guidance on meditation as well (they also have courses).

Never. I can understand that it does help some people calm down and reflect on the day and all that, but I find cooking usually does that for me.

I don't meditate, I can't stand being idle, or relaxing. It feels like such a waste to me.

Meditation is way too quiet and serene. The only time I am that silent and motionless is when I am crouched in the bushes awaiting the perfect time to strike. However, there is a goofballian equivalent to meditation that involves chasing squirrels around the backyard in my underwear. How the squirrels got my underwear I'll never know. :p

A couple of times a week. I take naps right after, or during, or ... . Oh well, I find it restful and frequently I find that when I've finished I have a plan of action or a solution to a problem without actually realizing how I got there. Naps ... I mean meditation = good.
