Is it wrong not to care what anyone's sexuality is or how they display it as long as they don't harm people?

If we're clear on what constitutes 'harm', probably not.

Of course it isn't wrong to not care. They are human beings after all (however outside the norm they appear to be), we could at least give them the dignity they deserve in that they can and are making they're own choices that really only have an effect on themselves. Hell, I don't give damn about much in this world and if I did, one's sexuality wouldn't rate very high on my 'Shit I Gotta Do Something About' list; animal welfare would be priority over all.:p

Nah, I think that's just about right. Being obsessed with other people's sexuality is creepy.

If I don't think you're hot, I don't care what parts your bed partners have or what precisely you are doing with them. If I think you're hot and you like people with different bits than I have, I might be a tiny bit disappointed, but not really and I'll forget about it and stop caring.

If you're hot and otherwise unavailable, I cease caring rather quickly too. And when I'm unavailable, I only really care what individual one person is interested in.

Basically, if I'm not going to try and have sex with you, I don't care who you are having sex with. This about sums up my position.

I really couldn't care less what 2 people I have nothing to do with do in bed. I admit to getting a little freaked out when I hear about some of my friends' alternative practices, but that's because I'm a prude and don't want to hear about it.

I agree with this post. Basically it is the principle of reciprocity in action: "I won't talk about my love life if you don't talk about yours. Btw, I do not think you want me to blab on and on about it, and I sure as hell do not want to hear about yours. Deal? Good!"

Yes, yes it is extremely wrong not to care about other people. You maam have the heart of stone and for you not to care well that doesn't say much of you as a person. :D

What type of world would this be if people didn't care about other people. :p

Blouman, I DO care about others, after all I am a communitarian! Just that I really would not want to hear the mushy details of an individual's romantic life, it would make me ill.

If, say, one of my best friends were to get married and he approached me to either perform the ceremony or to act as his best man, that I would have no problem with in fact I would feel flattered. However, the details of what he and his new wife did in the hotel after the reception and dance I do not care to hear!

Although there's a lot of mindfucking going on within religion, and some clergymen take that a few inches to feet lower, an actual religious fucking thread (or a thread about fucking religiously) would still be about sexuality, wouldn't it?

It was funny in my head.

I just couldn't finish it properly, see I was trying to do something that would make it seem that ASD not caring about other people's sexuality meant that she didn't care about other people or something like that. Not even I find it funny now but at the time in my head I could see what I wanted to say and found it funny.

in real life, its none of your business so there is no problem with your not giving a damn

online it seems that we are expected to be intensely interested in the minutae of everyone's life from what kind of steak they like to the tiniest detail of their sex lives. not caring is just wrong.

Of course not.

What's wrong is to play the fingers-in-my-ears game of ignoring the struggles over sexuality and civil rights. That's no different from a white person saying, "I'm color-blind, I don't care what race a person is, so I don't give a shit about Jim Crow laws."

You don't have to give a shit whether a person is straight or gay. But, in my opinion, you can't be "neutral" on the subject of civil rights for gay people. Refusing to take part is simply another way of supporting the status quo, which means you're going to have "taken a side" whether you want to or not.

Bottle's pretty much got it right. It's okay to not care, but only if everyone doesn't care. Since there are people that very clearly do care and are trying to prevent certain groups from expressing their love just the same as every other, then it is your duty as a citizen to aid that group in their liberation from prosecution.

Technically, I would say that caring about rights is not the same as caring about the person's sexuality. Is a person being discriminated against and abused because of their sexuality? Then I care. Are they being discriminated against and abused because of their race, religion, ethnicity, political views, etc, etc, etc? Then I care about that, too, in the same way and to the same degree.

I care about rights. I don't care about the personal details of strangers' lives.

Also, I took the OP question more to mean "Is it wrong not be a Nosy Parker claiming some kind of right not only to poke around in other people's private affairs but to dictate the rules of those private affairs to them?" "Is it wrong to be surrounded by people who are perhaps a little sexually different from oneself, and not hiding the fact, and not be freaked out about that as if it has anything to do with anyone but them?"

Its very wrong. God, why arent you intruding into the lives of others? It is your duty, DUTY I SAY, to save teh gayz from their sinful lifestyle. And the only way to do that is to make sure they are second class citizens!

Because the Bible may say Jesus loves everyone, but thats just because the editors omitted the part where he curb-stomps a queer. Because the editors of the Bible are part of the gay agenda.
