Pencil or pen?

So as a break from the typical thread about sex, drugs, and politics, I am wondering about your writing utensils! When you write (not type :p) do you use a pencil or a pen for the most part? Do you use the clicky lead pencils? Or maybe you like the classic #2? What about pens? Do you like ball point, or the fountain pens? Of course you are not limited to what I posted here as far as types.

Just something I am curious to see about people.

I personally prefer the cheap white bic pens. They are very cheap, which is good as I go through them quite often.

My regular pen is a Rotring ArtPen, 1.1mm, one with green ink that I mostly use for work stuff, a second one with black ink for copying manuscripts and such. They're cartridge pens and quite nice, actually. I've experimented with goose quill pens and how anything ever got written with those is beyond me! Of course, I probably didn't prepare them right.

I do like mechanical pencils, too, but nothing very fancy.

When asked about my sexuality and mental competence I don't like to commit myself to an answer. For this reason I use pencils and very small writing.

I like a writing implement that gives me a good strong mark with little effort. I like extra-soft pencils and liquid ink pens. For cheap pens, I find I get best performance from the good old disposable BicStic. Their ink -- especially the blue -- seems to maintain the best flow with the least clotting. I'm thinking of getting back into fountain pens, but for convenience I always like the Schaefers with the cartridges. Bizarrely, I now find it's easier to get the ink than the pens to put it in. Staples by Harvard Square, for isntance, carries the ink but not the pens. I asked them, if they were going to do that, why they bothered to carry pencils and not just erasers.

Being left-handed fountain pens are more trouble than they are worth. Generally use a biro or a fibre tip, preferably black.

Pens. Fancier.

If it's a pencil I like the clicky ones. I snagged a super sweet stainless steel one with a rubber grip from somewhere. Pens are generally more available though, and most official paperwork of any kind usually has to be done in pen. In that case it happens to be the pens for whomever I work for, I've got a rather large collection of pens from various oil companies.

I like pens, though as a student I carry around a few mechanical pencils for filling in the bubbles on exams. I've owned two fountain pens in my life and loved them both; I think I'm going to get another. Even though I usually lose pens, I tend to hold onto fountain pens for a very long time, so it might even save me money. I also find that, for some reason, my handwriting is less horrible when I use them.

I never use pencil, because I dislike the mark it makes (this goes for my illustration work too). For writing I usually just grab whatever pen is closest, this is generally a black indian ink 0.25mm thickness pen.

I like micro point roller ball pens. When I use pencils I usually go for a mechanical pencil, 0.5 mm (or smaller if I can get it).

I prefer #2 wooden pencils for everday use. I write too hard to use mechanical pencils without breaking every few minutes, and I make mistakes (real or imagined) often enough to make pens not a good option.

A black pen with a soft tip!

It just looks neater with my penmanship, I guess. I naturally write kind of lightly and narrowly, so the softer tip gives it more ass.

I'd love to improve my handwriting.

I like gel pens - clear marking, good flow, nice feel. I can't find the inexpensive cartridge style Schaeffer fountain pens, or I'd get one of those even in preference to gel pens. Hmm, maybe Hobby Lobby or Michael's would have something like them.

For most of my work I use either a classic #2 pencil or a black Uniball pen. I used to have a nice .5 mm mechanical pencil but I lose things pretty easily so I keep to generic pencils nowadays.

Erasable pens are the best thing ever.

I use a pen whenever possible. Of course, this is assuming I have no other choice but to write with my hands...

Hardtmuth KOH-I-NOOR 5H pencil.

Don't like pens at all.

Also, due to my exquisite lack of skill the text I write using soft pencils ends up smudged. :D

Pens, through and through. And they must be blue inked, office standard.

For personal use, usually a .5 mm mechanical pencil.

For work, it varies. Pencil for roll books, 4-color ball point multi pen in notes adult classes (general stuff in black, correct stuff in green, corrections in red, other stuff in blue), and crayons in the kids classes.
