I love coffee. Obviously, if I did not, I wouldn't be making this thread. :p

So, NSG...any coffee lovers here? If so, what's your favorite kind, and where's your favorite place to grab a cup?

Rocket Bakery in Spokane. Best iced mocha in town. Not too sweet, and you can taste the espresso. Also, you don't have to say "grande".

I'm cool with anything that's decaf. However, I usually find myself drinking lattes.

Any place with a Cimbali or Spaziale espresso machine, and Illy coffee, and a barman who's got the touch.

Or at home, french press or neapolitan-style, Illy again, or Lavazza.

Btw, I consider the homicide of whoever tries to put milk in my coffee quite justified.

Count me in.

If so, what's your favorite kind?

The hot, coffee flavoured kind? Not too picky really.

And where's your favorite place to grab a cup?

Don't have one actually. Seeing as I drive a lot, it's generally cheap gas station coffee.

Coffee = Elixir of Life

Favorite = Melitta Classic 100% Columbian, medium roast, ultra-fine grind (almost espresso powder), brewed at home using the Melitta drip cone. I take it with half a teaspoon of sugar and enough whole milk to bring it up to a warm medium tan color.

Where = In my kitchen.

When = All day long. Waiting for the water to boil right now.

Anyone here tried Tim Hortons? Unfortunately, it's not available in my state, even though a few U.S. states have it. :(

Just give me the java and no one gets hurt.

As for where... well, I've got a bit of a problem. See, Japan has wonderful little coffee shops all over the place and some of their chain stores ain't half bad. That said, my wife and I do usually find ourselves at Starbucks for a Saturday treat because it's next to the store and honestly, it's a taste of home for me.

Mmm. Good coffee is nectar of the gods. Bad coffee isn't even fit for the sewer. I don't drink coffee out too ofter. I do buy beans and grind them as needed - the only way to get properly made fresh coffee. While I usually put milk and sugar in my coffee, if I want to try something new, I drink it black - it's the only way to tell if it's going to be any good.

MMMMmmmm Melitta rocks. I get the whole beans at the grocery and grind them as I need them.

The drip cone makes the cleanest tasting coffee, with the best aroma, in my opinion.

Lately, to save money on filters and running the electric stove, I've taken to brewing 3-4 cups directly into a Thermos carafe. Then I can just get nice hot coffee all during the day. It's the closest I've come so far to the coffee IV drip.

I like the kind involving booze, too, but then my family calls it wassail and we mostly only drink it at Christmastime. For just general "it's a cold day and I want something hot to drink" times, I'm all about just plain ol' cider with cinnamon and cloves and nutmeg. :p

Freshly ground, fair trade organic Guatemelan, lovingly brewed in my french press.

and where's your favorite place to grab a cup?

I usually drink at home, but I like to pop into the Umi cafe (http://www.umicafe.org/) when I'm in the neighbourhood. Bridgehead (http://www.bridgehead.ca/) is a good runner up, and usually more conveniently located. They're always jam packed, though; it's hard to find a seat most days.

I'm currently in the midst of a project to replace my blood with the sacred nectar.

What do I like? A coffee with a full body, very hot, but not a bitter flavor. Rich=good.

Although, I do enjoy a good Turkish style coffee as well.

I also happen to like this little place across the street from me. Bare bones, it's literally just a coffee shop and nothing more. No fracking wifi, no strange foods, no sizes listed in foreign languages (although lot's and lot's of fair trade coffee from lot's and lot's of exotic places). The owner was in a punk band back in the day, and they still have a close relationship to music. It's also inexpensive.

I'm not insanely picky when it comes to my coffee...years of working at places with shitty coffee has taught me well. I take it black, almost always, except french vanilla from Dunkin Donuts, in which case I take it regular.

Best coffee place is a place called Klekolo's in Middletown, CT. Love their espresso, and they have "pony express", which is 4x standard caffine. I usually hate iced coffee because it gets watery, but they use coffee cubes instead of ice cubes, so it is pretty bangin.

If you're ever in the Inland Northwest of the US of A, let me know.

Anyone -- I live alone, and don't need a big ol' coffeemaker. What's the best way to brew single cups that I'm just going to make into iced coffee anyway? I've only ever liked coffee iced because hot beverages feel "slimy" in my mouth. So I'm looking to save some money on coffee and brew it at home. I've seen French presses, but they look like a pain in the ass to clean up.

Any suggestions?

They do make single cup drip makers, either ones that heat up the water for you or ones that just sit on the top of a mug and you add the hot water yourself.

I hear this one is easy to clean, although it does take more work than most single cup brewers.

Vietnamese coffee making contraptions might be good for you, they're for single-cups and they're easy to clean.

I'm a big coffee drinker, but I'm not at all picky where I buy it from. I find that gas stations have surprisingly good coffee for cheap, plus you can get chili dogs while you are there, as well.

Burger King and McDonalds have pretty good coffee, as well.

Finally the thread for me :)

I'm a big fan of making it yourself. That way I know what went in it. And theres the whole smell of the beans when you grind them.... Pure coffee goodness.

Problem is too much caffine and I'm bouncing off the walls so for the rest of the day I'm stuck drinking instant decaffinated which barely qualifys as coffee...

Anything black and hot.
Or, if I'm feeling creative, I'll have a tablespoon of brown sugar, a pinch of cinnamon, and a shot of vodka in a 20 oz cup.

The worst coffee I ever had (I know, you didn't ask, but I'm talking anyway), was the stuff they made at a homeless shelter (I was volunteering, not staying). It smelled like feet, it tasted like feet, and it is entirely possible that they used an old sock as a filter.
