When we name hurricanes,does it just encourage them?Maybe we should get companies to sponsor them. Hurricane Pepsi Cola anyone?

The outcome of a hurricane = Bad.
Image that companies want = Good.

I don't think companies would want to associate themselves with something that destroys property and hurts people.

<edit> Unless you're a company out to promote yourself as having qualities similar to a hurricane. </edit>

I think hurricanes need more descriptive names, personally. I mean, "Hurricane Bob" leads people to underestimate its power. Something more like "Hurricane Holyshit-I'm-Drowning-Aaaaaargh" or "Hurricane Gonna-Shred-Your-House-Into-Toothpicks" or "Hurricane The-Barometer's-So-Low-It-Left-A-Hole-In-Our-Basement-Floor" would suit them better, even if they took longer for announcers to say in weather bulletins.

Keep in mind that the some of the original hurricane names (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tropical_cyclone_naming#History_of_tropical_cyclone_naming) originally came from politicians the namer disliked...
