Then again, not all of Canada could be considered "too cold". Vancouver rarely experiences the "true" Canadian winter. They get rain and it hovers around 10C. Cold winter varies. Besides, it's not cold when summer comes. Quite the contrary. Where I am, it gets up to 30C on average, never mind on really bad days. Even northern Canada gets quite warm during the summer.

Psssh. Vancouver's really more part of Washington. :p

Haha, poor Emperor... at least this one wasn't decapitated or shot... Brazil is the only country ever on the Americas to have had a home-grown Empire and Emperors... Mexico had one briefly, if I recall well, but was "imported" (nonetheless he loved his country - when he was put to death by firing squad, he last wish was to have a mexican song played to him).

Nepal, because most people who don't live there don't know where it is. also because its up in the mountains.

well that's one of them. switzerland is of course up in the mountains too, plus it has trains.
then there's new zealand, mountains and lots of pretty trees.

but to be perfectly honest, much is i might like to, i haven't been much other then where i grew up in the sierra nevada mountains of california, so i haven't the slightest idea what its like on the ground to live there anyplace outside the u.s. which i'm not really all that impressed by its collective egocentric immodesty of its claims. now if it had the trains of europe and japan, and it wasn't against the building codes enforced by virtually every county in almost every state to live in improvised shelter as my perminent address i MIGHT be a little less critical of it.

so i can only guess what i would consider 'greatest' if i actually had any personal knowledge to go by. (which again i don't)

Greece because it has good food, good weather, decent beaches etc, good women (in some areas)

Either that or Cuba which just needs some money pumped in and castro to calm down a little then it would be an island paradise as it has great parties, friendly people and decent alcohol.

Isn't restricting people to a particular economic paradigm un-anarchic? (archic?)

Authoritarian is (I think) the word you're looking for.

Roughly speaking, the problem that many left-anarchists have with anarcho-capitalism is that it basically necessitates order and authority. If there is no government to enforce property rights, the market cannot exist. Even with all the functions of government privatised, it still exists - oppression through a private court system is no better than oppression through a public one. In short, capitalism, requiring private property and thus the state, is incompatible with anarchy.

This is, however, rather a hijack.

True, Hong Kong is NOT a country, but they are different enough from China for me to count them as a country. And good enough to make my list.

several which don't exist yet and possibly, though by no means certainly, and a few which no longer do.

it would by pointless to invent names now for those which don't yet as they probably won't use those names when the do. as for those in the past, well that's almost as much speculation as those in the future.

Hey, haven't seen you for a while. Explain why the US is the greatest, then. I admit it's great, but I don't think it's the greatest.

I also think America is the greatest nation, though I also really enjoy aspects of Switzerland and Germany (to a lesser extent than Switzerland).

Reasons being? It's difficult to say, but probably to do with the nationalism we have for our country, mixed with the idea that government is inherently a necessary obstruction of Freedom, makes for a very refreshing 'we love our country but just keep the government out of my way" feeling. I really like that. :p

Also, this cannot be stressed enough, the opportunity. Hands down the country with the most opportunity anywhere in the world.

I also like Canada, Australia, New Zealand and UK, though New Zealand and Australia more from what I've gathered and learned and from the few friends I have from those places, as I've actually never been there.
