I don't know if any one else has done a thread on this yet, but did anyone read about that woman who celebrated her 130th birthday this week?

Officials in Kazakhstan say they have a found a woman who will this week celebrate her 130th birthday, making her 16 years older than the oldest known human currently living.

Sakhan Dosova - a mother of ten - says she has never visited a doctor nor eaten sweets. She is addicted to cottage cheese and puts her longevity down to her sense of humour.

Her remarkable age came to light during a census in Karaganda in northern Kazakhstan. Demographers were astonished to find that she was also on Stalin's first census of the region in 1926 when her age was given as 47.

This would make her 90 when Neil Armstrong walked on the moon. And she'd have been 60 when WW2 started.

Do you think it's real? Is it actually possible for some one to live that long?

I wonder if Borat had TV coverage of it...

but seriously...I don't really see how you can disprove it. Maybe she really did, who knows? If so...awesome 'possum for her. If not...well we'll never know anyway.

Well, we could chop her in half and count the rings. ;)

It isn't biologically impossible. But you need to keep in mind that a lot of these longevity claims come out of third world hellholes and aren't really verifiable. Record-keeping in 1879 Central Asia just wasn't that great.

It's possible that she is a super-centenarian, but her year of birth might be innocently misremembered, confused with a relative's, etc.

In any case, don't expect Guinness to hop on the proverbial vote. They require good records.

Yeah you can't disprove it. But, that doesn't mean that there is proof she's that old.

Never said there was. Thats why I said: "If so: awesome 'possum for her". And if not...well I just don't care that much.

It would probably be impossible for her to know how old she was, even on Stalin's census, but she is still likely older than the oldest person currently recorded because 16 years is a bit outside the standard deviation for this kind of stuff.

I know, the difference between the 2 is longer than I've been alive.
