Maybe it's one of those Buddhist things, like the sound of one hand clapping or something. You're supposed to fill in your own blank, grasshopper, and then you will know what you truly seek.

Of course, you could walk before anyway. But is the majesty of the human form and the power of human ambulation any less miraculous just because you acquired it before listening to a preacher?

Well, According to my father, my people have no relation to the children of Abraham, and thats why they are better than us...

so they need us to defend them...

or something....

Im still not sure what the OP is asking however...

Assuming that we are discussing what we dislike about the Abrahamic religions specifically as opposed to our dislikes for religion in general, I would have to say that the conception of god as an omnipotent/omniscient/omniwhatever being is in direct contradiction to the god portrayed in the Torah and its sequels, and is also self-contradictory when analysed logically.

My other objections to the Abrahamic religions are shared by other religions, like members of the hierarchy using their power to influence a social agenda in ways that stifle human rights.

That's why traditional native spirituality is more appealing. No heaven or hell. We send out our sexiest women to tempt you into all those wonderful pleasures of the flesh, in order to get you to understand that you can't have those things if you destroy the source of all those pleasures. And thus, before you know it, you're recycling, vermicomposting, consuming less and saving the fucking rainforest. Cuz you can't have pussy on an unsustainable planet.

The problem is they call a God who sends me to Hell for not believing him fair. Fairness is desirable, ergo that is considered desirable by them.

Creepy isn't it? Dividing people up amongst invisible lines of who this theoretical Omnibenevolent God does, and does not love. And they know, apparently.

Wow! You managed to figure out that there's a logical contradiction between an omnibenevolent being and the apparent unfairness of sending good unbelievers to eternal torment.

Then you went and assumed that all members of the Abrahamic religions resolve it by thinking that they want to send you to hell.

In reality, it's a little bit more complicated than that. If you go and talk to most members of the Abrahamic religions, you'll find that they don't want you to go to hell, despite your explanation above.

By the way, there is no eternal torment for anyone in Judaism. Unless you're really bad, you're eventually going to heaven. God will just send you to Sheol until you've been cleansed of your sins. A good unbeliever would only have the sin of not believing. Note that this is not the only belief in Judaism, just the prevailing orthodox one.

EDIT: The issue of an omnibenevolent being shunting people off to burn forever has been called the Problem Of Hell. There's a wiki article (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Problem_of_Hell) on it, that discusses what the more philosophical Abrahamists think about it. But I also remember what she said about her boyfriend while walking home from school with me: "God knows he doesn't believe, but he's just so nice that I'm sure God will let him squeak through."

Mind you, I know most believers in Abrahamic religions don't think that - you'd have to be a psychopath to think so - but...

My issue with the Abrahamic faiths is that I can't reconcile the concept of a loving God that their books tell me he is, with the violent punishments demanded by him for minor infractions. There is a significant contradiction that has yet to be addressed satisfactorily for me.

Assuming that's what the OP meant.

Zulu? Aborigine? Siberian tribes? Kurgan? Mount Builders? Others? All of them?) spirituality is to get fucked by as many men as possible?

Awesome. My issue with the Abrahamic faiths is that I can't reconcile the concept of a loving God that their books tell me he is, with the violent punishments demanded by him for minor infractions. There is a significant contradiction that has yet to be addressed satisfactorily for me.Where? There's no contradiction, really - there's a distinct lack of 'Loving God' in the old testament (New Testament has it to an extend, but the New Testament is generally full of liberal* faggotry, anyway). You're not supposed to worship God because he's 'Loving' - you're supposed to worship him because he'll punish you if you don't. Quite Machiavellian, really - it's better to be feared than to be loved.

Of course, there's an aspect of 'Love' involved insofar as the discipline God provides is meant to be for your own good.

*By the standards of the time.

Its hard to list the many and various reasons why I have a beef with organized religion in general let alone abrahamic ones. So how about I just sum it all up to, it's run by people.
