People still do it. And other people didn't know that, apparently.

Well yes strapping electroschock gear to your wedding tackle can be harmful. Every time they get aroused by the gay you zap 'em. Negative reinforcement. Oddly the usual result is suicide.

LOL

Its so wrong to do this. I'm a pretty tolerant guy, and I just simply don't see what people's big deal with homosexuality is. I'm not gay, never have been gay, never will be. But I have gay friends, and lesbian friends, and this doesn't offend me anyway. They don't hit on me, and I'm glad for this because it would upset our friendship, but the same goes for some of my straight girlfriends. I dunno man, I just don't get it.

I think some sort of electric-shock treatment may work. On the therapists, that is.

Why is it anyone's business who someone else finds attractive? As long as it is consenting adults, stay out of it. Spend the energy on your own relationship...

LOL funny their just wasting their time trying to "cure" gay people...being gay is not a choice its genetic..just like somebody said on here dont fix what isnt broken....whoever says they were gay but is now straight is obviously lying to themselves..maybe the therapists that say they can cure people need to cure themselves..i dont understand why people have to be so close minded about stuff like this..its none of your business..you should worry about whats wrong with yourself instead of worrying about somebody elses orientation period.

It seems odd to me that the top reason listed by the psychologists wasn't that the patient requested it. I mean, I'd think anything other than that would be malpractice.

psychologists dont kidnap gay-ish people off the street and toss them into gay changing therapy against their will.

people who are distressed about gay feelings come to them and ask for help in changing. that IS their business eh?

an ethical therapist wouldnt help a person change but would instead help them to accept who they are.

then there are the parents who bring in their minor children to get the gay cured out of them. only a quack would take that assignment.

*wonders if now it's advertised they'll get people signing up who want to be electrocuted while looking at gay porn*

There could possibly be a very small minority with a psychological hang up. While we are beginning to understand homosexuality, I don't think we know enough yet to nail down all causes 100%.

there are some who are confused because of having been molested by someone of their same gender. they need therapy to understand what happened and that it doesnt make them gay. (and that if they ARE gay that their gayness didnt make it happen)

I would agree. Though those confused are likely to identify as gay or be identified as such by others. Then again the last thing those confused people need some quack trying to "fix them".

I wonder what those therapists would say if I went to them and said I needed help becoming a lesbian.

This is close to all of the actual cases. I'm surprised they still do that in the UK. Utah of course does not surprise me.

I am hopeful those are the older doctors who did this sort of thing years ago.

From what I have heard about FOX news from various people I am surprised they aren't congratulating these doctors for curing gayness.

My friend Ryan came out of the closet today. He confessed to me that he's indeed a lesbian. He just...can't stop thinking about women. It was then that I consoled him by informing him that I too prefer women over men.

Perhaps I need a Shrink to cure me of the straight. ha
