That I read ages ago and I can't remember what it was called or who it was by (which makes things difficult). It was a re-telling of Arthurian legend with Arthur and his knights recast as Vikings (I think). I remember one scene fairly well, Arthur and his men are made to climb a mountain the long way without any water, when they get to the top all of his men head to the river and gorge themselves. Arthur goes and rinses his mouth out, spitting the water out, to preserve his dignity in front of his hosts.
If any one can tell me what this book was I would be grateful, had no luck trying to track it down elsewhere :(
