The new sixth sense, technological evolution.

Bring the computer with you, without hassle,
and get all the information you want from the web.
Not to mention all other useful applications such as clocks, calenders, phones, etc.
All accessed through easy and natural gestures.

The link is in Swedish, but the video is in English.
Should have mentioned that, sorry.

Pretty nifty, but I'd agree that cell phones pretty well do that. Just not fast enough.

Fun fact, the phone number that guy dials on his hand is the number for the MIT student's project.

A clear indication that everything truly is becoming more and more integrated/compatible with everything else.

Though there are some things that hinders it still.
For good or bad, of course.

pretty cool, but i much prefer the idea of a contact-lens display, as the information would be much more private. a lot of the software recognition of objects and associated actions (the amazon reviews for books, for eg) were really cool, and the watch action was awesome. but i still think the same could be achieved better without a projector.

one day i'm looking forward to thining, while looking at the city skyline, "what's that building over there?" and the ocular display will overlay a tracing of the skyline, highlight the building i'm looking at, and display relavent information, such as when it was built, by who, and what its there for (flats, offices, etc). or "where's my nearest pizza hut?", and the display will highlight breadcrumbs actually overlaid on the ground to take me there.

as a side note, i thought a 'technological sixth sense' might refer to the way in which some people are intuitive with computers and software, and some really aren't. its probably a matter of experience, but there is something to it

That is pretty cool...Seems a little cumbersome, needs to be made smaller, maybe combined to one device...

But, whats TED stand for?:$

I had to look that up. Technology Education and Development I think.

Would be a cool 6th sense to have.

easy and natural as used in this context are somewhat in the eye of the beholder. the smalltalk>mac>windows "desktop" metaphor remains entirely unnatural, though it has become easy, through what over the past ten years has been frequent and nearly continuous exposure.

i don't see this proposal any different in paradigm, only in specific details.

i'm more interested in downloading my dreams into my 3d graphics processor, but the power and resources necessary becoming sufficiently affordable to someone like me, is still, i rather suspect, a bit of a ways off.

Here's another fun use for a wearable camera. Hook it up to a small computer with a hard drive, and never forget again. Record every sight and sound you ever experience. Add in a playback projector and a simple index system and you've got perfect memory forever.

The tech is interesting, but too cumbersome. Make it small, eyepatch sized, scrub the projector and use an internal LCD screen for data overlay and then we're talking.

Just awesome! They need to add speech commands.

I'm enough of a grudge bearer as it is.....
