Dear NSGers,

I recently moved to the country and so my parents and I have been using Skype to talk to each other. However, we are plagued by constant dropouts. I was curious about other people's experience with this service as I think it's great in theory. I was wondering also about other services and whether people use them.

So, who uses Skype and Skype-like services? And how do you find them?

Skype occasionally craps out on me for a few frustrating weeks and then somehow fixes itself and is fine for a few months. Now, it's fine.

Thanks for the reply. Its just not working at all for me and my folks atm. Of course, Australia is apparently pretty bad when it comes to internet, so maybe that's why...

Skype was driving me NUTS! It kept dropping out every few minutes, got too frustrating.

See that's what is happening to me at the moment. The first few weeks to a month, the calls were fantastic. Now, I want to throttle my poor laptop over it.
