I'm a fan of onemanga.com and tend to go towards the mysteries and like genres. I like Doubt, Death Note, D. Gray Man, Lost + Brain, etc. I'd love to discuss these and find new ones to read, or even find a manga-based region. Got anything for me? :]

I frankly don't see the point to all this new stuff. Naruto, Bleach, Death Note, it's all kinda worthless to me. Sure, it's fun and the characters are memorable, but as they get extended, anybody that isn't obsessed with at least one of the characters usually drop out. Personally, I like the classics. Akira, Metropolis... all of those. They're absolutely amazing and so sublime. Pure works of art, if you ask me.

Well, I admit - bowing my head in shame - that I don't know Akira or Metropolis.
However, I do think it's a matter of taste here - Evangelion and Cowboy Bebop are very good, for instance, and EVA is usually lauded as a classic for its deconstruction of the "giant robot" genre. Rurouni Kenshin is also very good in several aspects. There is "art" in all, I think.

Well, Eva the manga isn't. The anime is showing its age though. But I'm talking about reading Urusei Yatsura or Ah! Megami-sama (Though that is still being published) or some older works like Sazae-san or Granny Mischief. Of course the REALLY old school stuff I've read was some of the stuff done by Hokusai, and you just can't get more old school than THAT!

I like manga, but I have no particular favorites. I just read what catches my eye. One of my favorite comics to read(granted, it's not a manga) is Azumanga Daioh. But I've read a very wide variety of manga. Naruto, Bleach, One Piece, Bitter Virgin, Rosario x Vampire, Mx0, Aishiteruze Baby, Alive!(not to be confused with Alive - The Final Evolution), Angel Densetsu(one of my favorites), Black Cat, Bloody Monday, Case Closed/Detective Conan, D-Gray Man, Death note, Eternal Sabbath, Fist of the North Star, Full Metal Alchemist, Hana Kimi, Hayate the Combat Butler, History's Strongest Disciple, Hunter x Hunter, I's, Ichigo 100%, Kamen Teacher, Midori Days/Midori no Hibi, Mysterious Girlfriend X, Eyeshield 21, Tantei Gakuen Q, to-LOVE-ru, and Yu Yu Hakusho are most of the manga I've read.

Tsk... what terrible taste. Well, aside from YuYu Hakusho (assume it's on my list), which is decent as both a manga and anime.
If you want to talk about decent manga, then let's discuss any of the following:
Fushigi Yuugi and its follow up, Fushigi Yuugi: Genbu no Kaiden
Ayashi no Ceres
Imadoki
Ranma 1/2
Angel Sanctuary
The Cain Saga
Gundam Wing and its movie Endless Waltz
Kyou Kara Maou
That isn't to say the classics like Akira aren't good as well. The newer stuff is mostly questionable. Death Note for its premise does get a few points for having something slightly different.
I'd name others, but most people aren't into yaoi manga - of course, it's very easy to turn straight characters into raging yaoi lovers. Teehee.

AMG is still going on and on and on and on. I'd say it's almost fallen into the whole Inuyasha evil-plot-of-the-day repetition, but it's not quite there, and the plot varies a bit.

'Evil-plot-of-the-day' sounds like heavily sanitized anime to me, and should be avoided at all costs. And if you want to make that comparison, don't use Inu-yasha, at least used the very, very badly translated and botched Sailor Moon, which in Japanese is remarkably good, but in English makes my inner otaku angst and lament over the thought.

I still think it applies though. A huge majority of the 550 odd chapters that make up Inuyasha involve the Naraku coming up with some dastardly plot, the heroes showing up to foul it up, the villain getting away while yelling "neener neener" only to put into motion next week's plot. Sometimes a bit of variety shows up when Inuyasha and co get fouled up instead and then they spend a week or two powerlevelling for another go. It's just all so very repetitive after the first hundred or two chapters.
Sure you could argue that there are times when it branches off to other focuses, but those are in the minority.

I love mangas. I have all issues (until Feb releases) of Bleach-One Piece-Naruto, every single Doraemons including the original Fujio movie mangas, all Detective Conans (until 2009), half of Hikaru no Go, Dragonball + Dragonball Z, and some Pokemon spin-offs. I'm going to look for Afro Samurai mangas when I get the chance.
I used to have several series of classics, but I think they went missing/given. I have to revitalize my collection when I go to Japan.
I also have 2 issues of English One Piece. It's so awesome how the translator was able to preserve the same humor using a different pun about noses:
Japanese version: "tsuke'-pana"shi => "detachable nose" => implies fake nose => buggy is pissed
English version: Only the "robber knows" => "rubber nose" => implies fake nose => buggy is pissed
I have to admit I have a stash of non-pedo guro manuscript sketches and doujinshi ^_^ But that's for another thread >.>

Beet the Vandal Buster (Adventure)
Negima (Harem Comedy taken to its logical level)
Fuishi Yuiigi (Adventure and angst)
12 Kingdoms (More Adventure and angst)
Scrapped Princess (Although, be it noted, the anime in this case is better than the manga and the original novels are better than both!).
