Does having a good credit score get you anything?

I just found out that I have good credit. What now? Can I like go get my utility bills reduced somehow? Can I use it to reduce the cost of my cellphone plan? Anything? I guess I could get a loan but I don't really want to do that. Is there any other way I can benefit from having a good credit score?

Buy a house. Get a mortgage. Your interest rate will be lower. The same goes for credit cards, other lines of credit.

You might be able to get a reduction on your car insurance of like 3%.

I cant refinance or take out an additional loan because I have borrowed as much as they will lend me because my real estate went down in value after I bought it.

You mean you can't re-fi with the same bank. Check with other banks.

It gives you certain benefits. You get the right to be hung with a silk rope if you commit a capital crime, you get the ability (with sufficient training) to hack into the Matrix, and for some unknown reason it makes your farts smell minty fresh.

I did. Actually, that is how I found out that I have a good credit score. I think I have a good credit score. Each of the 3 credit bureaus has a different score but they ranged from 744 to something in the 760s. I wonder if that is a good enough credit score to get any kind of a discount. I am not a credit expert but I remember hearing that 720 and over is good.

I like silk. Doesn't get much silkier than silk. Plus it is cool to think that caterpillars made it.

Well, I could make you some money for it. Just send me your name, address, birthday, and social security number, and I'll turn it into money.

Isnt there talk of under 5% refinancing? I am not sure how to keep my eye on it but it would be cool. Do you think that a credit score will be a component of qualifying for one?

yes i do. deadbeats will be turned away.

i dont remember what the details are but one part is for people who are current but upside down and one is for those who are facing default (i think). i dont even remember if its been passed or not (i dont have a mortgage).

check the whitehouse webpage. if you qualify you may have to bring it to the attention of your lender or find a lender who is participating in the program.

I guess us deadbeats won't be turned away. This is a bit of a joke-pun, because I am one of the folks that the credit card industry folks refer to as deadbeats because I pay my credit card balance in full every month. I read that on bankrate.com for those of you who always want people to cite sources.
