Since I haven't seen anything pop up in recent days, considering how close the baseball season is to starting, and since EG's keeper league is now defunct, I've started another fantasy baseball league.

It's mostly the same that recent leagues have been. However, I want to see a bit more competition and depth, so I've made it so that there will be a maximum of 15 teams instead of 12. Rulezz to follow:

I would start by saying "Well, I went and traded away Grady Sizemore..." from last year's league, but I ended up (barely) winning, so I guess I can't. :tongue:

Heh. My problem is that I'm a sentimental fan. I love my team, and even a really good offer ain't gonna make me trade away my favorites, which kinda defeats the purpose of fantasy baseball. On the other hand, I've been getting better at letting go. But only slightly better.

Joined. I've been the number 2 team for the last 2 years. I'm hoping to actually win this time, my strategy is to actually play rather than ignoring my team like I've been doing.

I would join, but I know that the round thing is a ball, and that it's basically cricket played wrong - and that's the full extent of my knowledge on the subject. So - I'm thinking no.

Really, you don't need to know much about the sport. It helps if you follow it, obviously, because you know who the up-and-coming players are as well as the established stars, but if you can read a spreadsheet you can compete. Yahoo provides all kinds of statistical filters that you can use, and it's fairly easy to identify your strengths and weaknesses in given statistical categories.

It could just go to 12... I wanted to make the league deeper without adding tons of player slots.

Makes it easier for each manager to manage his/her team and the league more rewarding overall.

And it's a cumulative league. Even if you suck it up the first month or so, you can still win if you hit on a good player or two.

Pardon the BUMP, but there were a few people that I felt should be reminded of the existence of this, plus I feel like putting out an advert for the last push.

The draft is to take place this Saturday at 10PM GMT/5PM EST/2PM PST/PI GST... or whatever. It appears that there are a lot of beginning players, aside from Gentiles and Smunkee and myself, so if you're looking for a beginners league or just something for fun to do on the side, this would be your chance. There's currently 7 players registered and room for a few more, so if you're interested, info's on the 1st page.
