So, has anyone been following the World Baseball Classic? If so, are there any surprises for you? I know there is for me. Who would have thought the Dominican Republic team would have been beaten TWICE by the Netherlands team, eliminating them from the competition? I'm also happy that the US team has made a better showing this time, getting into round 2. Another question I have is, are there any matchups that you're looking forward to? I'm interested in seeing the results of the Cuba-Japan game.

im not paying attention to it but i was completely unaware that the netherlands even HAD a baseball team of any kind much less that it is a baseball powerhouse.

Yeah, I've been watching it on the MLB channel. The only thing that could've made the Netherlands beating the DR better was if Pedro Martinez had taken a shot to the face.
And I agree that USA Baseball seems to be taking it much more seriously this time. Which is nice.
I think that Korea or Japan will probably win it all. If it's not the US, I'll root for Korea, just because they might all get military service exemptions if they win, meaning that Shin soo-choo could still play for Cleveland next year. (hey, it's a reason. i didn't say it was a good one.)
