I won't comment on this because I have not thought about it alot yet, but it does make me think.
Does the Media blow everything out of proportion?

These guys are even more right wing than me, and I don't support bush at all ( never did ). But it does make you think, the media does seem it only reports all the bad.

The media reports whatever will give them ratings. Thats why the bad is sensationalized and soft news is so popuar.
The media reports "good" things all the time as a "feel good" story. And theyre almost always irrelevent.

"...And today, a small child got a lollypop. A little boy's wishes come true. See more tonight."
"And afterwards, we'll tell you the story of the brutal knife killer! Should you be scared of going out at night? We'll show you tonight at ten."

This is bascially the nightly news.

Quite so. Except with more sensationalist statistics.
Like "9 out of 10 stabbing victims die every year due to brutal knife killers!" or "Lollypops are only available to 6.3% of the world's children due to the economic recession!"

This is part of the right's revision of history, which will soon read like this.
In 2008, after a stunning 8 years of continuous growth and the spread of freedom and democracy to every dark corner of the earth, the elections rules meant that, despite pleading by the general public, George W. Bush had to step down.
By October 2008, on realising that Barack Obama, with his sinister plan to turn the USA into a communist state, would likely win, the banks simply stopped lending credit to each other, reasoning that there was no point given they were bound to be nationalised soon due to the inherent democrat need to stomp every true American into the ground, take away their rights and generally impose government on all aspects of society.
Barack Obama seized his chance and, with no evidence at all, manipulated the media and the public into believing there was a recession and so took the first steps to taking control of all aspects of government according to his socialist agenda.
Incredibly, despite everyone having jobs, 2-3 houses paid off, American goods being admired and bought around the world, the Big 3 turning Detroit into a glorious paradise where streets were paved with gold, all the evidence was ignored due to the power of propaganda. People actually believed the opposite was happening, stopped buying things and fired everyone.
That's how the Great Depression of '09 happened.

EDIT: I actually listened to the podcast after I wrote this, I just knew that's what it's about, I watch FOX on the weekends to hear the commentators and it's quite remarkable.

its too late (early?) to listen to that for me, but i do think the media are quite responsible for a great number of things. they have huge power and influence, and yet have very little accountability or sense of responsibility. i'm quite sure the current recession in the consumer economy wouldn't be nearly as pronounced if the media weren't sensationalising the recession 'fear-factor', making everyone panic and causing consumers to stop spending. i feel there's rarely enough balance seen on the news. in fact, a few years ago, i found watching the news was simply too depressing. now i get all of my news from the interwebs.
on a related note, one of my favourite moments of all time was when the editor of the Daily Mail was being grilled on the BBC's Today Programme (a pretty hard-nosed political news radio show, on daily). i have the recording somewhere, but the bit that made me smile was when Humphrys said to the Mail editor, to paraphrase, after a lengthy and difficult grilling, "but that's not actually the case, is it?" to which the editor replied "But our readers don't want to hear the truth!"
to be fair, Humphrys is a bit of an interview bully, but it was still so epic i almost snorted my breakfast OJ :P

It's what sells.
I forget what news station (or was it a paper?) tried to do human interest stories, etc. The viewership dropped dramatically.
Face it. For all our positive talk; we like hardship and misery.

You forgot the part where Obama turned Guantanamo into an Islamosocialist re-education centre for Americans. And raised an army of stem cell zombies to force-collectivize the farms. Or something.
