A skilled skater has always impressed.

Nothing, why, what would I think about them?

On second thought, maybe a little pity that they feel the need to identify by the means of a small ironing board on wheels. I hope they'll find a better sense of self at one point.

im not bigging up my scene, because there not my scene, there the punk skaters that hang around every good spot, are annoying, and always question anyones skill. They are the opposite of the chavs, but just turn out to be similar.

I'm a 21 year old male, i like rock but not screamo or metal or that sort of music, i don't hang around bus stops or any of that, especially the terrorizing the elderly, i have morals, i have no piercings as i think they are pointless, don't wear hats, and i have never owned nor wore skinny jeans, as they seem very restricting.

How do you think "skaters who can actually skate" started out? Not as twenty-something phenoms, but as 15 year olds with gigantic shoes who couldn't actually skate. Some of them are just punks, but the ones who actually spend their time skating instead of loitering at the mall in gangs are usually alright.

It's a crime, and anyone with a skateboard should be jailed for life. *nod*

really, I don't care as long as they refrain from damaging property with their stunts. Around here, that isn't a problem most of the time. The new city library has these annoying obstacles on the handrail of a long stairway which I assume are meant to prevent the otherwise tempting rail-grind opportunity.

I've not really spent much time thinking about them other than seeing various documentaries, any sub-culture is interesting, I remember [from Gladwell?] the skateboarding sub-culture led to the re-rise of Hush Puppies.

Personally I suspect they're a bit stale as a sub-culture as opposed to surfing, which has gone through a resurgence of late, Parkour seems to be where the cool kids are.

When watching, say, the X-games, skateboarding seems the least interesting.

Meh, I used to live by a skate park. Nothing good to say about it. Nothing against them, but for those that vandalize stuff and beat up on old folks etc. I agree with the idea that they should be strung up, shot, and then dragged around behind their parents cars until the body is gone. (Tore apart by road etc.)

The skateboarders I see every morning and every evening here in front of Milan's Central Station are just a bunch of idiots who have ruined the marble benches by skating on them, and also occasionally crash into pedestrians.
They provide some humour, though, when they crash to the ground or miscalculate a leap and fall in the street... right when a car is coming, the idiots. Darwin in action at his finest.

As for other skateboarders, I don't know.
