Which person with opposite views do you admire most?

For me, it's Otto Wels (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Otto_Wels). One of the most courageous and principled men who ever lived, IMO.
Edit: The title was going to read "Which historical person with political views that are the opposite of yours do you admire most?" but there wasn't enough room for that.

Probably John Adams, or James Madison...Ive always been more of a Jeffersonian myself, but those two were brilliant and did much to help the country...

I'd say GnI. His views are almost the exact opposite of mine, yet I respect him very much. I can think of any historical person I respect with views that are almost opposite of mine, and, of course, NSG is so much more interesting than Real life.:D

I'd have to say Bill Maher. Politically Incorrect was usually interesting, and he didn't constantly interrupt people, which is friggin' annoying(that's right, I'm eyeballing you, O'Reilly). He seems to be able to disagree without being disagreeable.
On here? Soheran or GnI.
In general? I'd say Bill Joy and Francis Fukuyama.

I do admire Obama, even though I am usually in disagreeance with him as well.

Henry Kissinger. I think he endorsed and organized war crimes and screwed a lot of stuff up in the world, but he has the courage of his convictions and he really, seriously thinks about what he says and does. Also, he does not hate his opponents and can sometimes even allow that the other side is right about something and in some situations is better able to deal with something than his side is.
If I were queen of the world, I would never put Kissinger in charge of anything, but I probably would keep him on my advisory team. I would likely never do anything he suggested, but I would still want to hear his opinions.

Right now it's David Brooks. Although I have to saw we don't have opposite views but different views. He's a bit more to the right than I am on a number of different issues. He does seem to be making a lot more sense lately.

Fuck, I can barely remember what my views are.

A centrist isn't necessarily moderate, just someone who is between the left and the right.

Richard Dawkins, I do not agree with, nor do I agree with Neu Leonstein. But I respect Dawkins as a scientist, even though we would have theological disagreements. I also respect Neu Leonstein as a debater...even if he is a little bit too free market orientated for my tastes.

sorry for double post
But how does one define left and right...could not politics be seen in three or four dimensions, hmmm?
See also Vosem Chart, Nolan Chart, and Milstead (?) Chart for comparison. A man by the name of Steven Brinn, a sci fi writer I believe, wrote an article about politics in the three dimensions. It is on reformthelp.org

It would be pretty hard to find a total opposite I admired (he would have to believe we should exterminate all blacks). Rorschach is a bit crazy as far as political views go (see his reading material), and he seems to think most of the world should perish for its sins--still, he has a strict, albeit hypocritical, moral code, and I can relate to his feelings, considering his past.

Well here's a guy who was basically nobody 3 years ago, who not only went from almost total obscurity to the Presidency of the United States, but he did it despite resistance from the Clintons AND the entire Republican party while at the same time making history by getting through racial barriers.
I disagree with his politics, but ya gotta respect the man for that.

David Icke. A raving nutter, conspiracy theorist, wrong on so many counts - yet in the films I've seen him in, he comes across as a genuine, passionate, albiet misguided individual. He's an idiot, but I wouldn't mind arguing with him over a pint. That's about as close to respect as I feel capable.
