So, sure, you can make fun of him if you want, but it's cheap. It's like how stupid people make fun of a homeless person because, haha, he doesn't even have a house, what a loser. It makes them forget their own stupidity and worthlessness.

If Michael Jackson didn't have his fame and his millions of dollars most people would probably feel a bit more sympathetic for the poor dude, rather than take the metaphorical (and ironic) Michael out of him all the time.

Same deal as with Jade Goody over here; people have suddenly been texting me the most horrendous jokes about her today for some reason. I don't really understand why she's famous in the first place, as I obviously don't partake in much pop culture these days, but I still don't think dying from cancer is particularly funny.

Because people have so much sympathy for the poor and mentally ill. Especially when they're of an eccentric bent and there is suspicion that they might be child molesters.

For the skin, Jackson's had vitiligo and lupus since the '80s--though the latter is remission. It started making his skin lighter, and the treatments he uses make his skin even lighter than that.

A lot of his face was actually because of seriously significant weight loss, though I wouldn't rule out plastic surgery in addition. Also, he might have body dymorphic disorder and have no clue how his body is perceived by others.
