Let's say a politician dies..

.. right before an election he's running for re-election in.

Would you vote for him (wasn't enough time to make new ballots) anyway, or vote for the next best choice?

Let's see how many people here want to waste time and money on a new election.

I'd vote for the dead guy, but only if he rose from the dead as an unholy abomination driven to feast upon the flesh of the living. As that's the kind of policy decision I want to see more politicians taking a stand on.

If he just stayed dead and decomposed I'd vote for the other candidate. I can't stand it when politicians just don't do anything in office like that.

Dead guy. He would be the most honest politician ever. Never would lie to us.

Probably the dead guy. That's what happened to John Ashcroft. He lost to a corpse. *nod*

This, with the dead guy winning, has happened several times

If I agreed with his politics, the dead guy. He'll be replaced by an appointee who would hopefully (HA!) have similar politics.

If I agreed with what the (wo)man stood for and his/her probable replacement by his/her party seems to be competent and will likely follow in his/her predecessor's footsteps, then absolutely. If this is not the case I would vote for someone else, simple as that.

I know, I'm going through it right now, there's a special election tomorrow because of it.

*I* think it's absolutely retarded to vote for a man that can't fulfill his duties.

I'd vote for the next best person. some areas, the party chooses the replacement, others they hold a seperate election but that won't guarentee the replacement is as good as the next best guy, nor does it guarentee the replacement is as good as the dead politician.

If you would have wanted him (we are talking about a male, right?) to win you should vote for him, because then someone like him politically will ultimately get the post.

And I was one of the people that helped that happen. Ashcroft is a dick. Carnahan was a popular and competent governor. I'd rather have a good dead guy than a moronic live one.

Definitely the dead guy - he couldn't be any worse than the others.

in a 2 party system you vote for the dead guy and trust your governor to keep the replacement with in party lines.
