So, I'm responsible for the creation of a short quiz meant to determine one's stereotype, which can be found at this link (http://www.gotoquiz.com/stereotypical_stereotype_quiz). I was hoping the kind residents of this forum might give it a try and afford me some feedback on it's accuracy?

It was broadly accurate, but a combination of Barnum statements, rainbow ruses and a very broad set of categories ensured that. Still, I must congratulate you on how well you wrote the results. Have you considered becoming an astrologer?

Maybe hippies are like that, but we're NEO-hippies. Possibly, maybe listening to metal or possessing fringe interests gives us the get up and go required to get up and go completely, machete-swinging nuts.

I got Neo-Hippie for your quiz (which was kinda weak and I resent being labeled as any sort of hippy) and I got Death for the horsemen quiz (which was vastly superior).

Which is completely false. I don't watch any professional sports, have no physical activity, have little physical friends, and have very strong opinions.

Ironically, the 'average' result is filled with the most stereotypes, some of which are offensive.

They claim that I'm average. Then again, I have a hunch they'd also claim that the Dalai Lama is average if he took the test.

At least it's not one of those tests with mind-numbingly obvious answers...

The decription of the humour and social interactions is about right, but I'm not sure where you got that music bit. The summary describes me as a nonconformist; I consider myself more of an anticonformist, which is one of the reasons most of the results in my quiz speak less-than-admiringly. I do recognise that your estimates were about as accurate as possible from the little you know of me, so good job!

Also, I'd like to take this chance to address any dissatisfied quiz-takers: yes, the quiz was juvenile, as is plainly stated in the description ("Also, note that this quiz is aimed at individuals between the ages of 10 and 25, and while others can take it, the results will probably not be relevant or correct.")

Furthermore, I fully appreciate that many of you were dissatisfied with your results, or some of the more silly questions; but, if you were familiar with Gotoquiz, you would know that it's a huge step up from the majority of stereotype quizzes on that site.

Ladies and gentlemen, a practical demonstration of how effective astrology is.

Now read them dispassionately, and realise just how incredibly broad and generic they are. Please note that I qualified nearly every statement with it's opposite, except where I had a bit of information to work from, or where the statement seemed complimentary (I can't recall a stat, but I think I've heard something like 80% of people consider themselves smarter than average).

For where I got them: Politics is based on the fact you were a member of NationStates. The balance was just a safety play - I listed all of the major views, figuring that at least one would be fairly accurate. Same with the social interactions, which also combines with the fact that most people consider themselves fairly friendly. Humour was based primarily on question number 42. Music was pulled out of a hat, but again I was trying to balance out my statements with others which would probably be applicable. The summary was similar: most people would consider themselves some variation on that theme.

That one set of statements would quite likely apply to 90% of NSG. The same, incidentally, is true of the way you wrote your quiz results, which is part of the reason they seemed so accurate for most people. Your mind will tend to pick up on the accurate parts, and ignore the inaccurate parts.

Hmm, that's all quite sensible. Had me thinking you gathered most of it from the quiz- of course, if you had actually analyzed each question thouroughly to determine all that and not added the vaguest ones, it would probably look more like:

"You are a ridiculously intelligent individual who is relatively neutral on the lift/right political scale, but with a notable streak of environmentalism. You have a tendancy to be dismayed by what you see is a great mass of inferior individuals, yet, you have a need for recognition. Your may harbor a humourous opinion of red Kool-Aid, and rarely, if ever, do you believe there to be any more than six solutions to a problem- indeed, you occasionally go through a period of asserting that such things must be solved in one of two ways, sometimes including the all-encompassing 'other'. You are devilishly attractive."

You'll notice that this does make a few risky inferences based on the quiz, but, if those were wrong, you could claim that your deceased aunt wouldn't shut up while you were having psychic visions. Personally, I think this astrological wonder is better than yours. (It might skew the results just a tad that I know myself, but try not to think about that.) :D

These stereotypes include, but are not limited to: stoner, environmentalist, activist, anarchist, ultra-nonconformist, metal fan, shroom abuser, new-ager, stereotypical neo-Pagan, some goths, some nerds, and others. As you can see, there is a great amount of variation between these sub-categories, but they all have a few things in common: rejection of conventional thought, a relatively high degree of political and ethical awareness, acceptance and/or possesion of long hair, and an active participation in the stereotype. While this is not always the case, many types of neo-hippies have an uncommon intellectual capacity. Ah, the real trick about my astrological wonder is it is universally applicable. I copy and pasted it over to a friend, and asked him to rank how well it applied to him - he gave it a 9/10 for accuracy, and wouldn't believe that I didn't specifically write it about him until I linked him to my post here.

Well, I was somewhat hoping for constructive criticism. So far, in that area, I've heard that the quiz has a "student mindset", which was intentional. Plenty of nonconstructive criticism, though. And more than a few who don't seem to understand a good part of the quiz; first, you'll want to read each end result thouroughly before accusing me of "grouping emos and goths together" or whatnot, and it might also help to study the title.

decent quiz but completley wrong, although in fairness i doubt theres a quiz that could classify me as any stereotype as i dont fit into any and i have traits in common with several of them, i think of myself as an Individual
