Do you like Frasier?

I love Frasier. All of the characters are lovable in their own twisted way, and the actors are extremely convincing (I would never have guessed Mahoney was gay!). Even the later shows make Foxnimation look tame and bland, despite my decade old worship of the Simpsons.

It has achieved multiple Emmy, Golden Globe and various Guild awards, and I've never heard of the show until few months ago!

Even if it has a liberal bias/G-rated mildness, I believe it does a fine job of not isolating the more conservative viewpoints, making it even more enjoyable to watch for people like me.

Any other Frasier fans here? I've also started watching Cheers, but I can't find any Cheers DVD that are not-online.

He's not...although he is British (and, ironically, from Manchester).

But yeah, it's a hilarious show.

Have you checked Wal-Mart, or have you considered just purchasing them online?

I don't like it, no. Its not the worst thing I've even seen, but I've always found it a bit pretentious and without many laugh-out-loud moments

Why do you hate Jennifer Government: NationStates?

....?

When was the last time you did any roleplay? Sports, war, politics, character, etc.?

If you're not, and you just hang out on NSG, then you're not using Jennifer Government: NationStates for its proper purpose.

And intentionally misusing something is proof positive that you hate it.

So tell me again, why do you have Jennifer Government: NationStates?

I think my favorite line was something along these lines, right after he spilled the oil on the carpet -

"This was malicious! You've been gunning for that carpet since I got it!"
"It was an accident!"
"I don't think you know the difference!"
"Yes I do!" *points to the carpet* "That was an accident!" *sprays Frasier with the oil* "This is malicious!!!"

Fabulous.

Frasier - his dad was an unfeeling, self-centered, self-pitying old coot, I just wanted to bitch slap him; his brother was much more fun than he was (and he got the girl); Frasier was a stuffy, pompous, pseudo-intellectual ass who, for all his education, could never communicate with his family and friends well enough to get a point across. What's to like?

This website, let alone this forum, has never been for a purpose of 'roleplaying.' In fact, this forum is specifically NOT for roleplaying.

So you're wrong and... I'm not even sure why you're going on about this at all.

I do not like Frasier. The pompous characters turn me off. It also a little too urban for my tastes.

I know. And in spite of the fact that I'm female and find Frasier an annoyingly pompous, psuedo-intellectual, full of airy-fairy idiocies - I identify with him. Scary, no?

I think that Roz and Daphne were the only sensible people in the show.

I also think the old coot was just as much of a snob about being a regular guy as Frasier was about his Harvard education. They were actually very much alike, so we can both identify with both of them.

I like Frasier quite a lot. :) It's most definitely pretentious, but I find myself often identifying with the characters. I plan to buy all the seasons on DVD soon.

Identifying with the character is the fun part :D

The comedy is very rhythmic, anybody can pick the precise moment to laugh even if the dialogue is muted.

Both are shown as reruns here and whenever I have the chance I watch'em.

The first few seasons were quite good, but unfortunately, it's one of those shows that kept going long after it should have died. By the time Niles and Daphne got together (itself a really really dumb plot choice for anything but the finale, since the Niles-is-stupidly-obsessed-with-Daphne running jokes were one of the funniest things on the show), the show had pretty completely jumped the shark.

The show started over a decade ago; I'm shocked you're only just now hearing about it. Yes - it is hysterical. The last 2 seasons didn't do much for me -- after Daphne got married (that's not a plot spoiler btw - it took full 2 seasons for her to go down the aisle, w PLENTY of twists and turns!!!!!!).

But before that, some of the most hysterical things I've ever seen on TV were on that show. Enjoy. Don't eat popcorn while you watch it, though - you can choke...

I haven't heard of Frasier because I don't watch a lot of broadcast TV. Most of my screentime consists of various TV series on disc (Star Treks, various sci-fi).

Especially because they way it happened was kinda sleazy. Donnie was a good guy. He didn't deserve to get his heart broken like that.
