Alaska officials have told Gov. Sarah Palin she must pay back taxes on the thousands of dollars she received in state per diem funds while living at her home in Wasilla.

The Washington Post first reported last September that Palin had billed the state for nearly $17,000 worth of meals and other living expenses while staying in her own home during the first 19 months of her administration, even though the official governor’s residence is in Juneau.

I wonder if all the right wingers who spewed the typical angry vitrol about Obama's incompetence at choosing members for his cabinet with tax problems will similarly blast McCain for choosing someon for vice president with similar problems. Something tells me "no"

Well, he dropped out of consideration. But its because he was a democrat. Everyone knows that its ok when Republicans dont pay their taxes.

Seems like this sort of corruption is becoming more and more widespread these days, or that it's getting found out more often these days (which is the more likely of the two). We've got loads of MPs and such like being done for similar fraudulent claims here in the UK, and it's becoming massively depressing. Seems like that as soon as someone comes in to a position of power, it becomes time to rinse as much money out of the system as possible. I suppose I'm probably being naive, but it does sometimes seems as if there are few, if any, people in a position of power with any integrity.

It's often ironic, too, as the British government is having a crack-down on the amount of people in the UK who are claiming benefits wrongly whilst those in government are taking the system for all it has got.

Today at work, I received 'Change Orders' to approximately $20k worth of Purchase Orders that we never received to begin with. They want the product (that they haven't ordered) sooner than they initially (had not) indicated.

I've been speaking to the customer throughout the day, trying to get this un-fucked, and it's hard for me to pay attention and keep a straight face, because everytime they mention the Change Orders, all I can keep thinking is...
