So I am working on my map in gimp, and in the back of my mind I am thinking on SVG stuff and all that. Eventually I decided to try inkscape, only to really get fuc_ing lost in how the hell you use it. I look to the tutorial, that helps but I am still lost. Anyone here got helpful huts and the like for inkscape, I dearly need some to run it.

It is kind of annoying to have to block out piece with circle maker instead of simply doing a pen.

Hmmm, this is awesome now, but...
"Couldn’t open the file. It may be corrupt or a file format that Preview doesn’t recognize."
When I try to open a saved PNG (with 'guess by extension option, couldn't see PNG among the options) image, so I can make this stuff and I am free to see the stuff I made, but only of Inkscape. : /

Anyone think they could help with that, on a mac if that'd help.

Actually Inksape is full of bugs. It's pretty useful though but I wouldn't choose to work in it. Can't you work in gimp and just export to svg or are you doing something "special"?

But it did a better job than GIMP I think, I tried to be something later on in gimp and it just looked retarted.

The big advantage of Inkscape is that it's explicitly designed as a vector graphics program, and is therefore probably a better tool for the purpose.

As for how to use it, I recommend nosing about for its website, and possibly posting to the mailing list with specific, well-formed queries if you still need help.
