yay, four of mine are on there. I had a hard choice on deciding between PSone and Genesis as 5, but psone wins because it was my first console.

Fuck yes on Sega Genesis/Megadrive II (It was known by both).

Add 64 to that and you have everything you could ever need for console gaming. I have a Wii, but still play my megadrive more.

I'm old enough to have had an Atari 2600 and I've only owned Playstations. Don't have a PS 3 though, they priced me out.

SNES, then NES, then GB (if you allow handhelds) or PSX (if you don't).

I protest vigorously at the claim that sixth generation qualifies as classic.

EDIT: In the week of january 29th 2009, PS2 sales were about half those of PS3 sales (link) (http://www.vgchartz.com/aweekly.php), and PS2 game sales were noticably more than half the PS3 game sales.

EDIT THE SECOND: In Japan (http://www.vgchartz.com/japweekly.php), PS2 sales are about 80% of x360 consolewise and BEAT both x360 AND PS3 in game sales (twice the PS3 sales, four tiems the x360 sales!). In Europe (http://www.vgchartz.com/eweekly.php), stats are similar to US, but PSP is fairing poorly, losing to PS2 in games sold.

NES, SNES, N64, PS1. I haven't played any Sega systems enough to form an opinion.

I haven't had the opportunity to play with an Atari or other pre-NES system :(

SNES was my first console, but, i was like 3 so I couldnt get alot of use out of it, lol...

I got the Genesis when I was about 5 or 6 so it definitely imprinted more on me, lol...

Dude, Atari ftmfw!

Until I got the Wii, the only consoles I owned were an Atari and an NES. This is because, after getting the NES at...what, 7? 8? Every subsequent request for a console was met by my mother with, "But you already have one." The woman just did not understand, and after a few years I stopped trying.

the only reason i said 6th gen was so i could include the Dreamcast. 6th gen isn't really classic (hence the quotation marks) but it's not the current one, so...

UTOPIA! That started me on the long, long road to sitting in front of turn-based and real-time strategy games. Looking back that game was an amazing accomplishment, as were many games made by the legendary Blue Sky Rangers.

But what if you want Blood from your fighting games?

Then play mortal kombat 2 -- which, IIRC, outsold the genesis version by a significant margin.

I don't own a game console, I never have, and I doubt I ever will. I find my computer fairly satisfactory as far as entertainment is concerned.

Edit: I do wish I had something besides a Mac though, since so many games won't run on a Mac.:(

6th Generation Gaming Consoles only include Sega's Dreamcast, Sony's PlayStation 2, the Nintendo GameCube, and Microsoft's Xbox and any from other countries released between 1998 - 2006.

of the 6th gen consoles, I love the Dreamcast, and PS2.

the Dreamcast could've been a contender with their VMU. the ability to have a portable game module that can add to the game when re-connected to the Dreamcast. *sigh* but few games took advantage of that feature.

edit: but including other gens. then my fav will always be my Genesis. I still play with it from time to time. followed by the Sega CD, PS2/PSX and NES.
