Any opinion on who will win if she ran against Arnold?

The Headline:

Meg Whitman runs to save California

It's all there. Arnie himself warned he was a terminator. We just took it for acting. Now Whitman has uncovered the truth and she will run to defeat the Terminator threat with the current weapon of choice. Democracy!

From the article this one must kind of sting a little.

"The question I'm asking myself more and more these days is, if eBay were getting started today, would Silicon Valley and California still be the best place for it?," she asked in the Commonwealth Club talk. "Is California still the best place for innovation and job creation in America?"

Ouch. I guess where else would you go? Likely not New York.

Unless of course the Governator goes back in time to erase her from history.

Meg Whitman....erh I mean Sarah Connors?

Where he would have to face Sarah Conner all over again. What the documentary didn't say was that when Sarah Conner saved herself and John she also saved Meg Whitman.

Her implied answer, of course, is No — and Whitman (who, with today’s announcement, is holding off on press interviews) is likely to run on a campaign that is critical of the way Schwarzenegger, who is prevented by term limits from running for a third gubernatorial term, and the legislature have managed the state. The former Terminator has disappointed fellow Republicans who expected him to rein in spending. Whitman, speaking to a group of district attorneys last month, said, “If California were a business, we’d be out of business.”

Nothing about John Connor in the artcle. He could run.

'great' might be a big strong, but he has demonstrated competence which is better than certain former US Presidents can boast. :p

He surprised me, that's for sure. When I hear interviews with him, I am reminded that there is a such thing as a fairly reasonable Republican, and I remember why I used to feel like I associated more strongly with them.

In case you didn't notice, the word was plural. What makes you think he was talking about Bush at all, much less exclusively?

This appears to say more about your own views of Bush than LG's.

He's also a successful businessman, a hard worker and a decently intelligent guy that sometimes comes to the table with an open mind. Much better than many politicians, Republican or Democrat.

I have to wonder how much of that reasonable nature, however, is a result of governing California: a state that would either never elect, or failing that subsequently lynch a hardline Republican.

Ah well. At least we won our celebrity pride back from Jesse Ventura and Minnesota. :D

Summer Glau

The only thing better than the original Terminator is a hotter one. Also, we could set up cameras and tape "River Tam Kicks the Everloving Fuck Out of California Senators for Two Hours Straight."

The revenue from this movie would be so great that California would create a surplus. I say - Glau for Gov!

Considering that Cyberdyne Systems (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyberdyne_Systems) was initially based in CA, that sounds like the perfect opportunity to jump back in time and save the future. Done and done.

best governor we ever had was 'moonbeam'.
best candidate i've seen run who hasn't gotten elected yet: peter camejo.

i know nothing about this e-bay gal, but recon she's as good roll of the dice possibility as old ahney at this point. or at least anyone other then ahhney who isn't some kind of third rate actor, which for some mysterious reason californians, and following their uninformed lead, the rest of the country, seem to be suckers for. e.g. ronald raygun.

i sort of have my serious doubts e-bussiness experience REALLY brings the kind of perspectives that are needed right now.

I just thought of this. Will this be Arnie's third term or his second? Remember, his 'first' term was actually completing Davis' term.

He was re-elected in 2006 and this would be his first Full term...

I believe it would be argued that he served out the vast majority of Governor Davis's term, and in 2011 he will have served in the office for nearly 7-1/2 years regardless.

I know that the 22nd Amendment specifies that a Vice President replacing the President for more than two years in considered to have already served one term, so he can only be reelected once after that. I imagine that something similar is in play here.

See, that's the part where I'm not certain, simply because I'm terrible at reading laws and horribly lazy. ^_^;

I assume that Arnold wouldn't push for a third term regardless, and even if he did I'd guess it wouldn't fly.

Good question though. Maybe somebody smarter than I can go hunt down the answer.

okay looked it up for you.
the Constitution of California is 110 pages long.
It does not say. Just says the governor will serve no more then 2 terms.
I suspect the governor term limit in California was written as a ballot initiative, and no one thought to clarify what happens in the event of a recall.
