I am imploring you to consider what annoys you about NSG, without flaming, baiting or trolling (do those parameters annoy you?). At the same time, you could of course provide some balance by discussing what you like about the place, since you apparently have chosen to continue sticking around.

On topic, what annoys me about NSG are when people just cut and paste whole swaths of somebody else's material, add nothing, and posture it as understanding.

Meh, nothing particularly annoys me about NSG so much as my tendency to frequent it.

All the little things that can be annoying - you touched on some, Neo Art has touched on some others :p - are in the end not inimical to NSG but society in general and I have learned to mostly accept it. While still being annoyed to the point of risking heart attack.

Although one thing sorta unique to NSG is the quote-depth limit, and lack of any other real thread/reply structure which helps to tell what people are talking about AND what they were originally talking about. It's this last that leads to really huge threads that go around in circles and where the subject of debate becomes "what we were fucking debating about?"

I would like to see some more conservative posters with good debate skillz. So that we can get some real good discussions. I also think that the posters here don't even try to consider other's opinions before asmashin' them.

Now see, I've been told this too, by people and it's always kind of puzzled me. If something has been done a certain way for a period of time, chances are there's a good reason for it. I'm not saying don't ask questions, or explore alternatives, but I wouldn't go rushing changing things just because it's assumed that 'change'='better.' You could end up with something worse, too.

The overwhelming "liberal" bias on this forums. It places just about any "conservative" poster in the position of being outnumbered, and having 10 posters snipe at every 1 post he/she makes. Having an unfriendly, even hostile audience makes arguing any point harder, adds undue pressure, and ultimately has the potential of simply drowning out anything he/she says with sheer quantity.

Half the fun of BEING conservative is facing the dogpile of "Liberals"-Conservatism works best when presented as a minority viewpoint, Republicans tend to stay "Clean" longer when they actually have to fight and justify their ideals. Remove the conflict and opposition, and they kind of turn into Lefty-Lite. (Witness: McCain, Bush Jr., etc. etc.) The best era of the Conservatives to date was with Clinton in the White-House, and the press breathing down their necks. (the Nineties). The present version got fat, lazy and as corrupt as the Democrats they unseated in '94.

They do say that those who talk about it the most do it the least. When I was younger, I found 'Act like you've been there before' to be a good principle, too. You mostly hear it with regards to people over-celebrating a win of some kind (sports, politics, what-have-you), but it can have broader meaning as well.

Nothing annoys me about NSG. Some people annoy me, but that's a different thing, and I wasn't going to enter this thread. But I did think of two somewhat common habits that some people have which annoy me wherever they happen, in NSG or anywhere else:

I don't much enjoy, but I don't really mind the occasional mano a mano duel/fight breaking out in a thread. I don't enjoy but don't really mind a side topic ballooning into a kind of thread within a thread, unless the combatants so overwhelm the main thread that they really should break off into a separate thread to be polite. And I don't even really mind when a debate gets stuck in a rut, exhausts all its points, and has nowhere left to go but round and round in a circle. I get bored pretty quickly when that happens and wander off, but it doesn't bother me. To me, that just illustrates where the real crux of the controversy really lies.

But the things that do annoy me are:

I'm not, and never was, a good debator, but even I know that you get good by tangling with people who don't agree with you, and better if you tangle with 'em unsupported, since you become more nimble and better at backing up your statements...or not,but you definitely DON'T get better in a venue where everyone but a small minority takes your side.

I've noticed this happens on a lot of serious threads where people will spam the forum with unrelated stuff to shut down the discussion. It's disappointing to see a promising discussion devolve into trading ridiculous remarks.
