Songs that remind us of...

Certain people.

This one reminds me of a certain someone.

Run, desire, run
a sexual being
run him like a blade
to and through the heart, no conscience
one motive: cater to the hollow

Screaming feed me here
fill me up again
temporarily pacify this hunger that's so cruel

Libido throw
dominoes of indiscretions down
falling all around in cycles, in circles
constantly consuming, conquering, devour.

'Cause its time to bring the fire down
throttle all this indiscretion
long enough to edify
and permanently fill this hollow

Screaming feed me here
fill me up again
temporarily pacifying
feed me here
fill me up again
temporarily pacifying

Several, but this is a big one:

Show me the dirt pile
And I will pray that the soul can take
Three stowaways
Vanish with no guile
And I will not pay
But the soul can wait
The soul can wait

It's still pretty
What with all these weeks
We’ll be fine
We’ll be fine

But if it’s still pretty
What with all these weeks
Will we find love
And supervise

Show me the dirt pile
And I will pray that the soul can take
Three stowaways
And you vanish with no guile
And I will not pay
But the soul can wait
I felt you so much today

Oh no, you try
You fly straight into my heart
You fly straight into my heart
Girl, I know you try
You fly straight into my heart
You fly straight into my heart
But here comes the fall...

So much for me believing that sorrow
So much for dreams we see but never care to know
Your heart makes me feel
Your heart makes me moan
For always and ever, I'll never let go
Always concealed
Safe and inside, alive!

Show me the dirt pile
And I will pray that the soul can take
Three stowaways
In a passion it broke
I pull the black from the grey
But the soul can wait
I felt you so much today...

*Sigh* All the songs I can think of are songs I rather forget thank you very much.... :(

Lay beside me, tell me what they've done
Speak the words I wanna hear, to make my demons run
The door is locked now, but it's opened if you're true
If you can understand the me, then I can understand the you

Lay beside me, under wicked sky
Black of day, dark of night, we share this pair of lives
The door cracks open, but there's no sun shining through
Black heart scarring darker still, but there's no sun shining through
No, there's no sun shining through
No, there's no sun shining

[Chorus]
What I've felt, what I've known
Turn the pages, turn to stone
Behind the door, should I open it for you?

Yeah
What I've felt, what I've known
Sick and tired, I stand alone
Could you be there, 'cause I'm the one who waits for you
Or are you unforgiven too?

Come lay beside me, this won't hurt I swear
She loves me not, she loves me still, but she'll never love again
She lay beside me, but she'll be there when I'm gone
Black heart scarring darker still, yes she'll be there when I'm gone
Yes she'll be there when I'm gone
Dead sure she'll be there

[Chorus]
What I've felt, what I've known
Turn the pages, turn to stone
Behind the door, should I open it for you?

What I've felt, what I've known
Sick and tired, I stand alone
Could you be there, cause I'm the one who waits for you
Or are you unforgiven too?

[Solo]

Lay beside me, tell me what I've done
The door is closed, so are your eyes
But now I see the sun, now I see the sun
Yes, now I see it

[Chorus]
What I've felt, what I've known
Turn the pages, turn to stone
Behind the door, should I open it for you

What I've felt, what I've known
So sick and tired, I stand alone
Could you be there, cause I'm the one who waits
The one who waits for you

Oh, what I've felt, what I've known
Turn the pages, turn to stone
Behind the door, should I open it for you

Oh, what I've felt
Oh, what I've known

I take this key (never free)
And I bury it (never me) in you
Because you're unforgiven too!

Never free
Never me
Because you're unforgiven too..

okay you pulled my leg

You say you want a revolution
Well, you know
We all want to change the world
You tell me that it's evolution
Well, you know
We all want to change the world
But when you talk about destruction
Don't you know that you can count me out
Don't you know it's gonna be all right
all right, all right

You say you got a real solution
Well, you know
We'd all love to see the plan
You ask me for a contribution
Well, you know
We're doing what we can
But when you want money
for people with minds that hate
All I can tell is brother you have to wait
Don't you know it's gonna be all right
all right, all right
Ah

ah, ah, ah, ah, ah...

You say you'll change the constitution
Well, you know
We all want to change your head
You tell me it's the institution
Well, you know
You better free you mind instead
But if you go carrying pictures of chairman Mao
You ain't going to make it with anyone anyhow
Don't you know it's gonna be all right
all right, all right
all right, all right, all right
all right, all right, all right
sounds better when played very loud.

Cake short skirt, long jacket

I want a girl with a mind like a diamond
I want a girl who knows whats best
I want a girl with shoes that cut
And eyes that burn like cigarettes
I want a girl with the right allocation
Whos fast, and thorough, and sharp as a tack
Shes playing with her jewelry, shes putting up her hair
Shes touring the facility and picking up slack
I want a girl with a short skirt,
And a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong jacket

I want a girl who gets up early
I want a girl who stays up late
I want a girl with uninterrupted prosperity
Who uses a machetti to cut through red tape
With fingernails that shine like justice
And a voice that is dark like tinted glass
She is fast, thorough, and sharp as a tack
Shes touring the facility and picking up slack
I want a girl with a short skirt,
And a long, long jacket

Nanananananananananananananananananananananananananananana

I want a girl with a smooth liquidation
I want a girl with good dividends
At citi bank we will meet accidentally
Well start to talk when she borrows my pen
She wants a car with a cup holder arm rest
She wants a car that will get her there
Shes changing her name from kiddy to karen
Shes trading her mg for a white chrysler le barron
I want a girl with a short skirt,

Electric Six - I'm the Bomb

Now who elected you judge and jury
In the body of a beautiful girl?
And I suspect heavy gerrymandering
At the singles bar

And now
I'm a man with conversation skills
And I'm a man with hundred dollar bills
And just a look my direction one time
Is all it's gonna take now

Come on

I know you think I'm just another sucker perpetrator
Livin' in the two-one-three.
And I don't care what you say about any of that, no
It don't matter to me, and

I see you drivin' the wheel in your fancy car
You're a superstar livin' in the three-one-oh
And I will freak you like you've never been freaked before, now
And I'm ready to go, yeah

Come on now

Three two one I'm the bomb
And I'm ready to go off in your shit
Three two one I'm the bomb
And I'm ready to go off in your shit
Three two one I'm the bomb
And I'm ready to go off
Ready to go off, now

Hah, hah, haaaa
Hah, hah, haaaa

Hey girl, when I'm fuckin' you
It's like nothin' else matters.
Make me wanna reach down between my legs
And ease the seat back.

Three-two-one I'm the bomb
And I'm ready to go off in your shit
Three-two-one I'm the bomb
And I'm ready to go off in your shit
Three-two-one I'm the bomb
And I'm ready to go off in your shit
Three-two-one I'm the bomb
And I'm ready to go off
Ready to go off, now

Hah, hah, haaaaaaaa
Hah, hah, haaaAAaaa
Hah, hah, haaaaaaaa
Hah, hah, haaaaaaaaaa.

Yo, this is a lesson in friendship
The depths of a kinship
What women and men begin with, and then slip
My pen drips
As I scribble my thoughts on thin strips
Of emotion
A fraction, seduction, attraction
Eruption of passion
Corrupts if a lasted friendship's involved
But love to cross the line
But that's why we built these walls

We been friends for a long time, a very close friend of mine
Love you like you was mine, but respect a thin line
I love you like you was mine, think about you all the time
Very close friend of mine, but respect a thin line

Opposite's attract
When the female and male come in contact
Sticky situation in fact
Tryin not to let the feelings catch
But there's a thin line between both of y'all
So you respect that
And entertain the idea, but get brought back
To reality, and could you really live with that?
Decision, based on intuition
You love and keep your distance
Hug and kiss in friendship

An ongoing kinship, we was people to begin with
Disrespect was not intended
but your feelings sparked the sentence
Sometimes you're too intense in your quest to invent
The perfect man, please understand, my rhyme is your repent

Man, too bad that we became friends first
I'm not on expert on how relationships should work
But, (echos) from the minute it as known
It changed the whole tone on how we spoke on the phone
Yo, it was cool but I felt it wasn't enough
And I was stuck when your moms would pick it up
Over you, all my buddies would swoon
But I felt we were in tune, you let me up in your room. (Damn)
But to me girl, you're still off limits
No matter all the times that I hinted. (Yo, whatchu doin after this?)
Infactuation was authentic, but yo I just pretended
So I wouldn't lose the friendship
Maybe, I should spill all my guts
Or write a letter, then tear it up
Or do a song, just to say what's up
I want ... just ... a touch

I can't do this anymore
See my heart just falls out when you walk in the door
Friendship turns into lust and this only tip
That I can't comprehend even if I knew it
Can't do justice to these things that I'm feeling
You got someone else, don't wanna be caught stealing
Hell if she knew she would never leave us alone
in the roo-ooo-ooom

This was a lesson in friendship
I stress in this sentence
Should women and men be friends first?
And then slip?
My pen drips as I scribble my thoughts on thin strips
of devotion

Opposites attract
And best friends make a perfect match
If you only knew that
Once you cross, ain't no turning back
The minute you let him in it and he hit that
That's that

We was people to begin with, but you was too relentless
Jeporidizing kinship, respect is intended
Resolve is my intent
While we got it in
I'm tryin to salvage a friendship

Thin Line by Jurassic 5.

This reminds me of this girl that I've been with a couple of times on and off over the years. We were friends for most of our lives before we got together, and after we broke up we stayed very good friends. We've wanted to get back together since but the way it has worked it was that if both of us are single at any given time I'm on the other side of the planet. Before I went to Iraq this last time I went up to visit her (she moved to the north end of the state) and, rather unexpectedly to be honest, one thing led to another. We said we'd see how things were when I got back but, as is the nature of such things, she met a really good guy halfway through the deployment and they will probably be getting married in the next year or so.

Goddammit! Quit being so vague, you jerks. I want juicy, gossipy details about the people the songs remind you of. Then I can start firing off the "Get a Blog" cannon with abandon.
As it, I can only use my "Get a Fortune Cookie Company," cannon.

This song reminds me of myself. What? I'm self-centered - sue me.

Death - the anti-hero, champion of the doomed
I'll be there to end your life, to take you to your tomb
I will seal your fate, before me you'll decay
There's no escape, your soul is gone - I'll steal your life away

I'll end your suffering, I'll end your pain
When you take your final breath - then you'll know my name...

I am death (death - death - death)
I am death (death - death - death)
I am death (death - death - death)
I am death (death - death - death)

I live within the hungry children on the streets
I'm the disease that kills you while you sleep
I am the needle that's in the junkie's arm
I am the tormentor - the storm before the calm

They call me the reaper - I am the man in black
When you give your life to me, there is no turning back
You will know the end is near - you'll see my toothy grin
Now you leave this life of hell, but another one begins...

'Miss You Love' by Silverchair always reminds me of a girl who was in the year below me at school. She had a great personality, on the appearences front she was pretty much exactly what I look for (though one of my 'friends' kinda broke that by saying that we looked so alike, we could have been twins). Worst part of it was that she also liked me, and really wanted us to go out.

Basically, what happened is I took the rational approach that I would soon be off to university, and even if it had survived that, for a relationship to survive long time, I'd have had to admit stuff to her which would likely put her off. So I just pushed her away a bit. I was going to try and bump into her in the last week of school, but the one time I saw her on the last day and got chatting one of my 'friends' barged in, frightening her off. So I went home, miserable, realising that I'd never see her again. I had my walkman (old school, I know) to play random tracks from the album in there rather than in order. And thats the first song that played. So whenever I listen to that song, I think of her, and how I should have given it a go, especially as I'm now 21, and she's still the only person I've ever been attracted to. Arses.

Back in school they never taught us
what we needed to know
Like how to deal with despair
or someone breakin your heart
For twelve years I've held it all together
but a night like this is beggin to pull me apart
I played it quiet left you deep in conversation
I played it cool and hung out around the kitchen
I remember I kept thinking
that I know you never would
And now I know I want to kill you
like only a best friend could

Everyone's caught on to everything you do
Everyone's caught on to...

As if it happening wasn't enough
I got to go and write a song
just to remind myself how bad it sucked
Ignore the sun, covers over my head
Wrote a message on my pillow that says
"Jesse, stay asleep in bed"
Don't apologize (I hope you choke and die!)
Search your self for something with which to hang yourself
They say you need to pray
if you want to go to heaven
But they don't tell you what to say
when your whole life has gone to Hell!

Everyone's caught on to everything you do
Everyone's caught on to...
Everyone's caught on to
(and I can't let you let me down again)
everything you do
Everyone's caught on to...
(and I can't let you let me down again)

So is that what you call a getaway?
Tell me what you got away with
Cause I've seen more spine on jellyfish
I've seen more guts in eleven-year-old kids
Have another drink and drive yourself home
I hope there's ice on all the roads
And you can think of me when you forget your seatbelt
and again when your head goes through the windshield

Is that what you call tact?
You're as subtle as a brick in the small of my back
So let's end this call and end this conversation
And is that what you call a getaway?
Tell me what you got away with
Cause you left the frays from the ties you severed
when you say "best friends" means friends forever

Is that what you call a getaway?
Tell me what you got away with
Cause I've seen more spine on jellyfish
I've seen more guts on eleven-year-old kids
Have another drink and drive yourself home
I hope there's ice on all the roads
And you can think of me when you forget your seatbelt
then when your head goes through the windshield

(I can't let you let me down again)
Everyone's caught on to everything you do
(and I can't let you let me down again)
Everyone's caught on to...
(I can't let you let me down again)
Everyone's caught on to everything you do
(and I can't let you let me down again)
Everyone's caught on to...

i might stay in tonight
and write you a letter
about my day, my week,
and the fickle tennessee weather…
and i'll tell you all about
how i think about new england
when i need to think
about home

and this dying time has frozen in the air
and it will certainly deaden my face
if i wander too far beyond
the only door that leads from this place
but i feel an out-of-season fever
and its catching hold
like a greying face in a mirror, dying to know,
"god, when did i get so old?"

but it's not what you think
i'll get over it soon
it's not what you think
i still love you

and it took two years
to dig this soft, deep gully in the ground
but we packed our shit, we walked away from it,
and now just look at me, i'm cowering back down
so tonight i don't feel like sitting in this room
tonight i won't feel like feeling lost without you
with the moonlight shining its television glare
on the girl with the drowning eyes and the golden hair

and it's not what you think
i'll get over her soon
and its not what you think
i still love you
and it's not what you think
i'll get over her soon
and it's not what you think
i still love you…
you're just being a girl.

Good choice.

ANNNNNNNNNNNNND ...
And so she woke up
Woke up from where she was lyin' still.
Said I gotta do something
About where we're goin'.

Step on a steam train
Step out of the driving rain, maybe
Run from the darkness in the night.
Singing ah, ah la la la de day
Ah la la la de day.

Sweet the sin, bitter the taste in my mouth.
I see seven towers, but I only see one way out.
You gotta cry without weeping, talk without speaking
Scream without raising your voice.
You know I took the poison, from the poison stream
Then I floated out of here, singing
Ah la la la de day
Ah la la la de day.

She walks through the streets
With her eyes painted red
Under black belly of cloud in the rain.
In through a doorway
She brings me white golden pearls
Stolen from the sea.

She is ragin'
She is ragin'
And the storm blows up in her eyes.
She will suffer the needle chill
She's running to stand still.
She knows who she is.
While i'm on her, btw ...

It's four in the morning, the end of December
I'm writing you now just to see if you're better
New York is cold, but I like where I'm living
There's music on Clinton Street all through the evening.

I hear that you're building your little house deep in the desert
You're living for nothing now, I hope you're keeping some kind of record.

Yes, and Jane came by with a lock of your hair
She said that you gave it to her
That night that you planned to go clear
Did you ever go clear?

Ah, the last time we saw you you looked so much older
Your famous blue raincoat was torn at the shoulder
You'd been to the station to meet every train
And you came home without Lili Marlene

And you treated my woman to a flake of your life
And when she came back she was nobody's wife.

Well I see you there with the rose in your teeth
One more thin gypsy thief
Well I see Jane's awake --

She sends her regards.
And what can I tell you my brother, my killer
What can I possibly say?
I guess that I miss you, I guess I forgive you
I'm glad you stood in my way.

If you ever come by here, for Jane or for me
Your enemy is sleeping, and his woman is free.

Yes, and thanks, for the trouble you took from her eyes
I thought it was there for good so I never tried.

And Jane came by with a lock of your hair
She said that you gave it to her
That night that you planned to go clear
Actually, they know who they are. He's around here some-a-where's, WYTYG.
&

you think you're gonna to live your life alone
in darkness
and seclusion
yeah I know
you've been out there
tried to mix with those animals
and it just left you full of humiliated confusion
so you stagger back home
and wait for nothing
but the solitary refinement of your room spits you back out onto the street
and now you're desperate
and in need of human contact
and then
you meet me
and you whole world changes
because everything I say is everything you've ever wanted to hear
so you drop all your defenses and you drop all your fears
and you trust me completely
I'm perfect
in every way
cause I make you feel so strong and so powerful inside
you feel so lucky
but your ego obscures reality
and you never bother to wonder why
things are going so well
you wanna know why?
cause I'm a liar
yeah I'm a liar
I'll tear your mind out
I'll burn your soul
I'll turn you into me
I'll turn you into me
cause I'm a liar, a liar
a liar, a liar

I'll hide behind a smile
and understanding eyes
and I'll tell you things that you already know
so you can say
I really identify with you, so much
and all the time that you're needing me
is just the time that I'm bleeding you
don't you get it yet?
I'll come to you like an affliction
and I'll leave you like an addiction
you'll never forget me
you wanna know why?
cause I'm a liar
yeah I'm a liar
I'll rip your mind out
I'll burn your soul
I'll turn you into me
I'll turn you into me
cause I'm a liar, a liar
liar, liar, liar, liar

I don't know why I feel the need to lie
and cause you so much pain
maybe it's something inside
maybe it's something I can't explain
cause all I do
is mess you up and lie to you
I'm a liar
oh, I am a liar

if you'll give me one more chance
I swear that I will never lie to you again
because now I see the destructive power of a lie
they're stronger than truth
I can't believe I ever hurt you
I swear
I will never to you lie again, please
just give me one more chance
I will never lie to you again
I swear
that I will never tell a lie
I will never tell a lie
no, no
ha ha ha ha ha hah haa haa haa haaa
sucker
sucker!
oh, sucker
I am a liar
yeah, I am a liar
yeah I like it
I feel good
ohh I am a liar
yeah
I lie
I lie
I lie
oh, I lie
oh I lie
I lie
yeah
ohhh I'm a liar
I lie
yeah
I like it
I feel good
I'll lie again
and again
I'll lie again and again
and I'll keep lying
I promise
She knows who she is. BTW, GREAT song to play to prospective SO's.
Seriously.

And m'self?

Well, Mousy Joe got the master plan.
He got a hat full of sugar; folks said, "You a lucky man."
One night he just disappeared
and all we found was his hat in a clearing
down by the Seven Eleven.
Folks cried,someone said he died
But I know Joe didn't go to heaven, no.

He went looking for trouble,
it was in his eyes.
She was a dime a dozen
and they were two of a kind.

Cherry Blue and Mighty Mouse
kinda quiet dude and sure was 'sposed to be back at the house
with the kids and the dog.
"And tonight we're rocketeers", said Mouse.
"And I know a little joint upstairs in the back
where we can sweat it all out and laugh."
And without a doubt they were out

looking for trouble,
the real kind.
She was a dime a dozen
and they were two of a kind.

How many times have you said to yourself,
"Hey, I feel like a yo-yo, I've been here too long."
I bet if you asked them our heroes would say,
"Hey, we're already gone."
I know, somehow I know.

How many times have you said to yourself,
"Hey,pack up and go, I've been here too long."
I bet if you asked them our heroes would say,
"Hey, we're already gone."
I know.

'How do I know that mouse'
Yeah

And off they drove,
late night still life,
paper moon shinin' brilliantly.
I'm sure he thinks that's cool
'cause any moon or mouse says he's a friend of hers
and this one will do just fine.
So what do you say we go lookin'? *although, not sure about the lyrics there, but oh well*

Pour shame all over us
Harden into a crust
- - - cement - - -
Forget the glamor and
Mumble a jackhammer
- - - under your breath - - -
Hide your face in the curtains
Better unsaid, so close
And it rolls off the tongue
ALMOST
The world expects the pose
Perfectly natural
- - - loosen up - - -
Smearing wet concrete
And swearing you'll never be
- - - caught - - -
At your weakest, etched in stone
And we're frozen here, peeking
ALMOST
sweet talk
CAFFEINE
Make contact
Up to my neck
I confess in quicksand
"But it's so easy for you"
"There's always one thing"
"Do you have something to tell me?"
"Say something"
"Anything"
I'm warning you
I'm warning you
I'm fucking you
I'm warning you
"Relax"
"It's just a phase"
"You'll grow out of it"
Believe anything anyone ever tells you
It's not funny anymore
It's thing you hate the most
The thing you hate the most
The thing you hate ALMOST

This is very deep to me, reminds me of, I don't know, it's indescribable:

Were no strangers to love
You know the rules and so do i
A full commitments what Im thinking of
You wouldnt get this from any other guy

I just wanna tell you how Im feeling
Gotta make you understand

* never gonna give you up
Never gonna let you down
Never gonna run around and desert you
Never gonna make you cry
Never gonna say goodbye
Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you

Weve know each other for so long
Your hearts been aching
But youre too shy to say it
Inside we both know whats been going on
We know the game and were gonna play it

And if you ask me how Im feeling
Dont tell me youre too blind to see

(* repeat)

Give you up. give you up
Give you up, give you up
Never gonna give
Never gonna give, give you up
Never gonna give
Never gonna give, five you up

I just wanna tell you how Im feeling
Gotta make you understand

(* repeat 3 times)

On the day that I was born
Daddy sat down and cried
I had the mark just as plain as day
which could not be denied
They say that Cain caught Abel
rolling loaded dice,
ace of spades behind his ear
and him not thinking twice

Half-step
Mississippi Uptown Toodleloo
Hello baby, I'm gone, goodbye
Half a cup of rock and rye
Farewell to you old southern sky
I'm on my way - on my way

If all you got to live for
is what you left behind
get yourself a powder charge
and seal that silver mine
I lost my boots in transit babe
A pile of smoking leather
Nailed a retread to my feet
and prayed for better weather

Half-step
Mississippi Uptown Toodleloo
Hello, baby, I'm gone, good-bye
Half a cup of rock and rye
Farewell to you old southern sky
I'm on my way - on my way

They say that when your ship comes in
the first man takes the sails
The second takes the afterdeck
The third the planks and rails
What's the point to callin shots?
This cue ain't straight in line
Cueball's made of styrofoam
and no one's got the time

Half-step
Mississippi Uptown Toodleloo
Hello baby, I'm gone, goodbye
Half a cup of rock and rye
Farewell to you old southern sky
I'm on my way - on my way

Across the lazy river

This song is from a chapter of my life that was not a good one in any sense of the term.

I thought I saw a man brought to life
He was warm, he came around like he was dignified
He showed me what it was to cry
Well you couldn't be that man I adored
You don't seem to know, don't seem to care what your heart is for
But I don't know him anymore
There's nothing where he used to lie
My conversation has run dry
That's whats going on, nothings fine I'm torn

I'm all out of faith, this is how I feel
I'm cold and I am shamed lying naked on the floor
Illusion never changed into something real
I'm wide awake and I can see the perfect sky is torn
You're a little late, I'm already torn

So I guess the fortune tellers right
Should have seen just what was there and not some holy light
To crawl beneath my veins and now
I don't care, I have no luck, I don't miss it all that much
There's just so many things that I can't touch, I'm torn

I'm all out of faith, this is how I feel
I'm cold and I am shamed lying naked on the floor
Illusion never changed into something real
I'm wide awake and I can see the perfect sky is torn
You're a little late, I'm already torn. torn.

There's nothing where he used to lie
My inspiration has run dry
That's whats going on, nothings right, I'm torn

I'm all out of faith, this is how I feel
I'm cold and I am shamed lying naked on the floor
Illusion never changed into something real
I'm wide awake and I can see the perfect sky is torn
I'm all out of faith, this is how I feel
I'm cold and I'm ashamed bound and broken on the floor
You're a little late, I'm already torn

However, this song still fits someone else who is very special to me.

"My road leads me far away.
Though my heart tells me to stay,
When my duty calls, I must go
'Twixt worlds of fire and worlds of snow."

"The road I travel will be long
To set things right, to end the wrongs.
But this message will I send,
Wait for me at Journey's End."

"Do not forget the love we share
Though I must leave, my heart will stay.
Do not think I ceased to care
When my duty took me away."

"The road I travel will be long
To set things right, to end the wrongs.
But this message will I send,
Wait for me at Journey's End."

"I have only my heart to give
For my life is not my own.
It is for others that I must live
But it is for you that I come home."

"The road I travel will be long
To set things right, to end the wrongs.
But this message will I send,
Wait for me at Journey's End."

But now they've been joined by these two songs for someone else:

Well I just heard the news today
Seems my life is gonna change
I close my eyes, begin to pray
Then tears of joy stream down my face

With arms wide open
Under the sunlight
Welcome to this place
I'll show you everything
With arms wide open

With arms wide open

Well I don't know if I'm ready
To be the man I have to be
I take a breath, I take her by my side
We stand in awe, we've created life

With arms wide open
Under the sunlight
Welcome to this place
I'll show you everything
With arms wide open
Now everything has changed
I'll show you love
I'll show you everything
With arms wide open

With arms wide open
I'll show you everything oh yeah
With arms wide open

If I had just one wish only one demand
I hope he's not like me I hope he understands
That he can take this life and hold it by the hand
And he can greet the world with arms wide open

With arms wide open
Under the sunlight
Welcome to this place
I'll show you everything
With arms wide open
Now everything has changed
I'll show you love
I'll show you everything
With arms wide open

With arms wide open
I'll show you everything oh yeah
With arms wide open
--

May the good Lord be with you
Down every road you roam
And may sunshine and happiness
surround you when you're far from home
And may you grow to be proud
Dignified and true
And do unto others
As you'd have done to you
Be courageous and be brave
And in my heart you'll always stay
Forever Young, Forever Young
Forever Young, Forever Young

May good fortune be with you
May your guiding light be strong
Build a stairway to heaven
with a prince or a vagabond

And may you never love in vain
and in my heart you will remain
Forever Young, Forever Young
Forever Young, Forever Young
Forever Young
Forever Young

And when you finally fly away
I'll be hoping that I served you well
For all the wisdom of a lifetime
No one can ever tell

But whatever road you choose
I'm right behind you, win or lose
Forever Young, Forever Young
Forever Young ,Forever Young
Forever Young, Forever Young
For, Forever Young, Forever Young

This was a really difficult relationship, we didn't talk to each other for a year afterwards and then slowly came back to being the best of friends, which is what we should always have been, it's a tough one, we're so close but once it moves into an official relationship, it's a disaster, I have no idea why.

We caused each other many tears, as though we had to continuously test each other,

The lyrics don't seem so good without the voice and the sparse accompaniment so there's a link for anyone who cares to listen. I found it off an EBTG mix album, original song by Margaret Mary O'Hara,

To Cry About

You take a walk
I'm by your side
Take my life, I'll give you mine
You, you give me something
To cry about

You're in my heart
I'm in your hand
You drop me off
I miss you and you
You give me something to cry about

Oh, in a pinch you listen to me
You are any scene wants to see
To see
There will be a timed disaster
There's no you in my hereafter
I still feel for you after you go
You, you know better than to cry
Cry about

You're in my heart
I'm in your hand
You drop me off
I miss you and, oh you
You give me something

Oh, this is your art
This is you and
You pick up your cross
Strike up the band

I still fall for you after you go
And you, you know better than to cry
Cry about
Cry about
Cry about

I saw them open for The Movielife once about six years ago. Had no idea who they were--I thought Jesse was just operating the merch table and made fun of the signs he was making, like, "No one is going to buy that t-shirt with that kind of marketing!" Then he got on stage and I felt totally mean. :(

"Somewhere Only We Know", by Keane, reminds me of my ex.

I walked across, an empty land
I knew the pathway like the back of my hand
I felt the earth, beneath my feet
Sat by the river and it made me complete
Oh, simple thing, where have you gone?
I'm getting old and I need something to rely on
So tell me when, you're gonna let me in
I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to begin.

I came across, a fallen elm tree,
I felt the branches; are they looking at me?
Is this the place, we used to love?
Is this the place that I've been dreaming of?

Oh, simple thing, where have you gone?
I'm getting old and I need something to rely on
So tell me when, you're gonna let me in
I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to begin
And if you have a minute why don't we go
Talk about it somewhere only we know?
This could be the end of everything
So why don't we go, somewhere only we know
Somewhere only we know.

Oh, simple thing, where have you gone?
I'm getting old and I need something to rely on
So, tell me when you gonna let me in
I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to begin
And if you have a minute why don't we go
Talk about it somewhere only we know?
This could be the end of everything.
So why don't we go, so why don't we go.

Hmmm yeahh.

This could be the end of everything
So why don't we go, somewhere only we know,
Somewhere only we know
Somewhere only we know.

There's a place in our hometown, where neither of us live anymore, by the river... with the fallen trees... we used to walk the dog down that path, and stop there just to be quiet together. Anyway.

The Young Folks, by so many artists I don't know who did the original anymore.

if i told you things i did before
told you how i used to be
would you go along with someone like me
if you knew my story word for word
had all of my history
would you go along with someone like me

i did before and had my share
it didn't lead nowhere
i would go along with someone like you
it doesn't matter what you did
who you were hanging with
we could stick around and see this night through

and we don't care about the young folks
talkin' bout the young style
and we don't care about the old folks
talkin' 'bout the old style too
and we don't care about our own folks
talkin' 'bout our own stuff
all we care about is talking
talking only me and you

usually when things has gone this far
people tend to disappear
no one would surprise me unless you do

i can tell there's something goin' on
hours seem to disappear
everyone is leaving i'm still with you

it doesn't matter what we do
where we are going to
we can stick around and see this night through

and we don't care about the young folks
talkin' bout the young style
and we don't care about the old folks
talkin' 'bout the old style too
and we don't care about our own folks
talkin' 'bout our own stuff
all we care about is talking
talking only me and you

and we don't care about the young folks
talkin' bout the young style
and we don't care about the old folks
talkin' 'bout the old style too
and we don't care about our own folks
talkin' 'bout our own stuff
all we care about is talking
talking only me and you

Walking
Waiting
Alone without a care
Hoping
And hating
Things that I can't bear

Did you think it's cool
To walk right up
To take my life
And fuck it up
Well did you?
Well did you?

I see hell in your eyes
Taken in by surprise(surprise)
Touching you makes me feel alive
Touching you makes me die inside

Walking, Waiting
Alone without a care
Hoping
And hating
Things that I can't bear

Did you think it's cool
To walk right up
To take my life
And fuck it up
Well did you?

I hate you!

I see hell in your eyes
Taken in by surprise
And touching you makes me feel alive
Touching you makes me die inside

I've slept so long without you
It's tearing me apart too
How'd it get this far
Playing games with this old heart
I've killed a million petty souls
But I couldn't kill you

I've slept so long without you

I see hell in your eyes
Taken in by surprise
Touching you makes me feel alive
Touching you makes me die inside

I close my eyes
Only for a moment, then the moment's gone
All my dreams
Pass before my eyes, a curiosity
Dust in the wind
All they are is dust in the wind

Same old song
Just a drop of water in an endless sea
All we do
Crumbles to the ground, though we refuse to see
Dust in the wind
All we are is dust in the wind, ohh

Now, don't hang on
Nothing lasts forever but the earth and sky
It slips away
And all your money won't another minute buy
Dust in the wind
All we are is dust in the wind
All we are is dust in the wind

Dust in the wind
Everything is dust in the wind
Everything is dust in the wind
The wind

Back in school they never taught us
what we needed to know
Like how to deal with despair
or someone breakin your heart
For twelve years I've held it all together
but a night like this is beggin to pull me apart
I played it quiet left you deep in conversation
I played it cool and hung out around the kitchen
I remember I kept thinking
that I know you never would
And now I know I want to kill you
like only a best friend could

Everyone's caught on to everything you do
Everyone's caught on to...

As if it happening wasn't enough
I got to go and write a song
just to remind myself how bad it sucked
Ignore the sun, covers over my head
Wrote a message on my pillow that says
"Jesse, stay asleep in bed"
Don't apologize (I hope you choke and die!)
Search your self for something with which to hang yourself
They say you need to pray
if you want to go to heaven
But they don't tell you what to say
when your whole life has gone to Hell!

Everyone's caught on to everything you do
Everyone's caught on to...
Everyone's caught on to
(and I can't let you let me down again)
everything you do
Everyone's caught on to...
(and I can't let you let me down again)

So is that what you call a getaway?
Tell me what you got away with
Cause I've seen more spine on jellyfish
I've seen more guts in eleven-year-old kids
Have another drink and drive yourself home
I hope there's ice on all the roads
And you can think of me when you forget your seatbelt
and again when your head goes through the windshield

Is that what you call tact?
You're as subtle as a brick in the small of my back
So let's end this call and end this conversation
And is that what you call a getaway?
Tell me what you got away with
Cause you left the frays from the ties you severed
when you say "best friends" means friends forever

Is that what you call a getaway?
Tell me what you got away with
Cause I've seen more spine on jellyfish
I've seen more guts on eleven-year-old kids
Have another drink and drive yourself home
I hope there's ice on all the roads
And you can think of me when you forget your seatbelt
then when your head goes through the windshield

(I can't let you let me down again)
Everyone's caught on to everything you do
(and I can't let you let me down again)
Everyone's caught on to...
(I can't let you let me down again)
Everyone's caught on to everything you do
(and I can't let you let me down again)
Everyone's caught on to...

A Sailor's Life by Fairport Convention

A sailor's life, it is a merry life
He robs young girls of their heart's delight
Leaving them behind to weep and mourn
They never know when they will return

"Well, there's four and twenty all in a row
My true love he makes the finest show
He's proper, tall, genteel withal
And if I don't have him, I'll have none at all"

"Oh, father build for me a bonny boat
That on the wide ocean I may float
And every Queen's ship that we pass by
There I'll inquire for my sailor boy"

They had not sailed long upon the deep
When a Queen's ship they chanced to meet
"You sailors all, pray tell me true
Does my sweet William sail among your crew?"

"Oh no, fair maiden, he is not here
For he's been drownded, we greatly fear
On yon green island, as we passed it by
There we lost sight of your sailing boy"

Well, she rung her hands and she tore her hair
She was like a young girl in great despair
And her little boat against a rock did run
"How can I live now? My sweet William is gone"

*********

My name is William (Will, to you) and I was introduced to this song by my then girlfriend. We were together for about ten years and shared a house for about 9 of those years. She introduced me to Fairport Convention and this song.

For reasons I still can't adequately explain, I dumped her. Not surprisingly, she was devastated by my actions. Many years later, this song still cuts me up. It forces me to see the break-up through her eyes.

Certain people.

This one reminds me of a certain someone.

Run, desire, run
a sexual being
run him like a blade
to and through the heart, no conscience
one motive: cater to the hollow

Screaming feed me here
fill me up again
temporarily pacify this hunger that's so cruel

Libido throw
dominoes of indiscretions down
falling all around in cycles, in circles
constantly consuming, conquering, devour.

'Cause its time to bring the fire down
throttle all this indiscretion
long enough to edify
and permanently fill this hollow

Screaming feed me here
fill me up again
temporarily pacifying
feed me here

The Mountain Goats cover of "Sometimes I Still Feel the Bruise" is on pretty much every playlist I make. It reminds me of not one, but two exes.

This is just to say "hello"
And to let you know
I think of you from time to time
I know I never really knew you
But somehow I miss you
And wish that you'd stayed in my life

Making contact gets harder
As the silence grows longer
And isn't it only me
Who'd like us to see each other?
How I would hate to be a bother
The way we left it was you'd ring

I'm under no illusion
As to what I meant to you
But you made an impression
And sometimes I still feel the bruise
Sometimes I still feel the bruise

Now and then I stumble on
What I've misplaced but never lost
An ache I first felt long ago
Though you've appeared and disappeared
Throughout these past few years
I'd be surprised if you now showed

Making contact gets harder
As the silence grows longer
And why would you think of me
When you were not the one in love?
When you were not the dreamer?
When you were just the dream?

This song reminds me of myself.

Here you sit on your high-backed chair
Wonder how the view is from there
I wouldn't know 'cause I like to sit
Upon the floor, yeah upon the floor
If you like we could play a game
Let's pretend that we are the same
But you will have to look much closer
Than you do, closer than you do

And I'm far too tired to stay here anymore
And I don't care what you think anyway
'Cause I think you were wrong about me
Yeah what if you were, what if you were

And what if I'm a snowstorm burning
What if I'm a world unturning
What if I'm an ocean, far too shallow, much too deep
What if I'm the kindest demon
Something you may not believe in
What if I'm a siren singing gentlemen to sleep

I know you've got it figured out
Tell me what I am all about
And I just might learn a thing or two
Hundred about you, maybe about you
I'm the end of your telescope
I don't change just to suit your vision
'Cause I am bound by a fraying rope
Around my hands, tied around my hands

And you close your eyes when I say I'm breaking free
And put your hands over both your ears
Because you cannot stand to believe I'm not
The perfect girl you thought
Well what have I got to lose

And what if I'm a weeping willow
Laughing tears upon my pillow
What if I'm a socialite who wants to be alone
What if I'm a toothless leopard
What if I'm a sheepless shepherd
What if I'm an angel without wings to take me home

You don't know me
Never will, never will
I'm outside your picture frame
And the glass is breaking now
You can't see me
Never will, never will
If you're never gonna see

What if I'm a crowded desert
Too much pain with little pleasure
What if I'm the nicest place you never want to go
What if I don't know who I am
Will that keep us both from trying
To find out and when you have
Be sure to let me know

What if I'm a snowstorm burning
What if I'm a world unturning
What if I'm an ocean, far too shallow, much too deep
What if I'm the kindest demon
Something you may not believe in
What if I'm a siren singing gentlemen to sleep
Sleep...
Sleep...

What If- Emilie Autumn

This one reminds me of my ex.

You change your mind
Like a girl changes clothes
Yeah, you PMS like a bitch
I would know

And you always think
Always speak cryptically
I should know
That you're no good for me

'Cause you're hot then you're cold
You're yes then you're no
You're in and you're out
You're up and you're down
You're wrong when it's right
It's black and it's white
We fight, we break up
We kiss, we make up

You, you don't really wanna stay, no
You, but you don't really wanna go, oh

'Cause you're hot then you're cold
You're yes then you're no
You're in and you're out
You're up and you're down

We used to be just like twins, so in sync
The same energy now's a dead battery
Used to laugh 'bout nothing
Now you're plain boring
I should know
That you're not gonna change

'Cause you're hot then you're cold
You're yes then you're no
You're in and you're out
You're up and you're down
You're wrong when it's right
It's black and it's white
We fight, we break up
We kiss, we make up

You, you don't really wanna stay, no
You, but you don't really wanna go, oh

You're hot then you're cold
You're yes then you're no
You're in and you're out
You're up and you're down

Someone call the doctor
Got a case of a love bipolar
Stuck on a rollercoaster
Can't get off this ride

You change your mind
Like a girl changes clothes

'Cause you're hot then you're cold
You're yes then you're no
You're in and you're out
You're up and you're down
You're wrong when it's right
It's black and it's white
We fight, we break up
We kiss, we make up

'Cause you're hot then you're cold
You're yes then you're no
You're in and you're out
You're up and you're down
You're wrong when it's right
It's black and it's white
We fight, we break up
We kiss, we make up

You, you don't really wanna stay, no
You, but you don't really wanna go, oh

You're hot then you're cold
You're yes then you're no
You're in and you're out
You're up and you're down, down, down, down...

Oh Liuzzo, I didn't know she already passed. I am deeply sorry.:(

Thank you much. She passed on 1-11-09 after being admitted to the hospital with a compromised immune system. The chemo had destroyed her ability to fight infection and clot. The doctor told me 6 months to a year when we first spoke and it wound up being just over 6 months. She's no longer suffering so that's a relief. I have also taken over her cancer support group and I am helping it to grow exponentially. So I now have a new cause to work for and it fulfills me greatly.

Edit: Check your roleplaying thread for a little lighter response from me. I didn't mean to get all depressing.

Yeah, I was her Power of Attorney, Guardian at Leitum, Medical proxy, and now the Executor of her will. The hardest part was having to be the one to tell the doctors it was time to let her go. I knew I'd have to make the choice, but it didn't make it any easier.

You are quite correct. That's where the cancer support group comes in, along with individualized therapy. Almost makes me regret my decision to remain completely sober at times. I know I can't mask the pain anymore though, so in the end it's the best course of action.

Certain people.

This one reminds me of a certain someone.

Run, desire, run
a sexual being
run him like a blade
to and through the heart, no conscience
one motive: cater to the hollow

Screaming feed me here
fill me up again
temporarily pacify this hunger that's so cruel

Libido throw
dominoes of indiscretions down
falling all around in cycles, in circles
constantly consuming, conquering, devour.

'Cause its time to bring the fire down
throttle all this indiscretion
long enough to edify
and permanently fill this hollow

Screaming feed me here
fill me up again
temporarily pacifying
feed me here
fill me up again
temporarily pacifying

This seems so fitting right now...

Lightning crashes, a new mother cries
her placenta falls to the floor
the angel opens her eyes
the confusion sets in
before the doctor can even close the door

Lightning crashes, an old mother dies
her intentions fall to the floor
the angel closes her eyes
the confusion that was hers
belongs now, to the baby down the hall

Oh now feel it comin' back again
like a rollin' thunder chasing the wind
forces pullin' from the center of the earth again
I can feel it.

Lightning crashes, a new mother cries
this moment she's been waiting for
the angel opens her eyes
pale blue colored iris,
presents the circle
and puts the glory out to hide, hide
