Hey guys, I don't usually go to General, but still....xP
My position paper for NAIMUN (North American Invitational Model UN) is almost due. The two topics are:
-The use of torture by countries
-The use of mercenaries by countries
As China, I need to find it's position on both topics. I have a few good sites, but not enough bulk information, such as hard numbers, to back up my info. If any of you guys can give me some information regarding either support, it'd be much obliged.

why would china need mercenaries?
there are traditional chinese tortures but that is probably not what you are looking for.

Google doesn't help?
For torture, doesn't Human Rights Watch do an annual report?
I really don't think China uses mercenaries, one might argue they used to internally when the country was more fragmented but not now.

Yes, that is all true, but basically, I'm China, so I have to support torture and kinda say why it is....important for the country to be legal.

Ouch, that's going to be difficult.

One argument, used by China itself, is that China most fears its history of luan, or chaos, where the aim of society is a Confucian ideal of harmony, history is a battle between chaos and harmony.
Given the enormous size of China, chaos can break out very quickly and threaten the entire country, the Taiping is a good example, as is the Boxer Rebellion, hell the Communist Revolution is a good example.
Therefore harsh measures are required to ensure harmony is kept, that the bad elements of society are punished.
China has to deal with 1.3 billion people, 800 million of which are uninformed, easily led peasants.
In the West, the individual comes before society - well mythically at least - in China, society is more important than the individual, thus the individual can suffer for the greater good of the state.
Look up harmony, chaos, Confucius, China or thereabouts.

NSG is not here to do your homework. Google is your friend. If you can't find what you need, try rewording your search query. Of course, you shouldn't be relying on just once source for your searching.
