Indian
French
Moroccan
Spanish

I'm not terribly exiting food wise. Pizza is good, but I'm terrible fond of all the others. Chinese is all right, at least for its price. I can't handle any spicy foods. The French make good food too. Anything with lots of meat really.

Number 1 is curry - although whether that is Indian or English is now open to debate, it's certainly hugely Anglicised in the UK. By default that also includes all the Asian variants thereof.

Almost number 1, but in a different way (in terms of refined palette and exquisitely balanced flavours), the variants on modern French cuisine that most horrendously expensive restaurants like to peddle.

Agreed. I'm also constantly surprised by the amount of fish in all regions of European food. I don't like cooked fish, so it makes me sad. And the sauciness/creaminess/heaviness of Eastern European food is a turn-off.

Sausage, good cheese and fresh-baked bread is one of the best meals in the world.

Chinese and Indian are definitely near the top but I do also love traditional English food (Roasts, Pies etc). Although I find most sauces too creamy, I do love Belgian food, especially Mussels, their steaks and generally the simple but downright delicious twist they put on standard northern European fare (though they refuse to admit mint goes with lamb which is just an error in my book).

I have trouble understanding how people can dislike "American" food as a whole, considering that most "American" food is fusion cuisine of some sort (especially here in CA). I mean, consider standard "American" fare. Burgers, fries, hot dogs? Good, good, good. Chocolate chip cookies--we invented chocolate chip cookies, probably the greatest thing ever to arise from this nation! And then you have Southern food--I dare someone to hate on a plate of fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, biscuits and gravy. If you hate that, you hate freedom and the terrorists totally win.

Southern US, Texas BBQ, Tex-Mex, Real Mexican, Cajun, Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, and German would be the top tier for me.

Thai, Philippine, Brazillian, Japanese, KC/Memphis/Carolina BBQ,

Dare I ask what 'cheese whiz' is?? To me it sounds like the 'right amount' is none:D

Bright yellow pasty highly processed artificial "cheese" food product spread to be avoided if you like cheeses at all.

What would be better - a burrito taco or a taco burrito?

Man, don't be falling into the stereotype. ;)

Really, while there are foods that may be generally American, the good stuff is in the regional cuisines. To take one example: pizza. Chicago and New York styles are as different from each other as pizza napoletana and romano. and you'll.

Even better, go for cajun or creole.

Don't forget they also eat such disgusting nastiness as pig's feet and grits. When I was in Texas with the Army the chow hall kept trying to feed me that crap.

I find deep-fried food in general to be really nasty. I'm not a particularly healthy person, but dunking something in grease is just wrong.

I don't think of burgers, fries (pommes frites) and hot dogs to be American. Every western country has it, and after trying all of the above in America, I prefer the way we eat them here.

I don't think there is a single best cuisine in the world. Every cuisine does something better, and it is situational for ex.:

German: Veal, Pork and Potato dishes
Italian: Pasta and Vegetarian
Austrian: Pastries, cakes, and tarts
Breakfast: Southern U.S. (Bisquits & Gravy, Buttermilk pancakes, etc.)
Drunk food: Curry (English or Indian), California Taco Stand Burritos, German-Turkish Donner Kebabs, or a 1/2 lb angus ground beef burger grilled medium rare with thick cut bacon and cheddar
Chicken: Latin American or Carribbean cuisine both do awesome things with a bird
Seafood: Portugese/Brazilian, Thai, Carribbean or Japanese (SUSHI!) are all good in their incarnations
Open Fire: Nothing beats USA BBQ in all its variations, even though a luau pig is awesome (though not technically cooked over an open fire).
And of course the French rule anything made from or with dairy products

See? Just too much good stuff to choose from

And hey, if nothing else, KC folks and Southerners can all agree that the stuff they call "barbecue" in the northeast is a crime against humanity, or at very least a crime against accurate labeling.

That's not completely true, though. There's good barbecue in Connecticut, and I've had some good stuff in Wilmington, Delaware --- but it's still not quite like what you can get in Austin or Houston. San Antonio, even.

I just remember that Mexican meal because i was happy and the food tasted wonderful, ah if only i could turn back time.

That's not completely true, though. There's good barbecue in Connecticut, and I've had some good stuff in Wilmington, Delaware --- but it's still not quite like what you can get in Austin or Houston. San Antonio, even.

Indeed. I haven't been back home to Texas in years simply due to circumstances, but there's a Texas BBQ place in Des Moines that I visit religiously when I visit my family in Iowa.

Guy who runs the place is a Texan, so it's pretty decent. They even have Shiner. :) Like you said, it's not quite the same, but it's a damed spot closer than what passes for BBQ in Osaka!!!!!!! :eek2: (Ya'll shoulda seen my daddy there a few ago telling 'em exactly what was wrong with the sauce.)

Either Indian or Thai. Gimme spices. :)

I'm also fond of Mexican and Japanese (especially the desserts actually), Italian, Hungarian (well, paprikash) as well as the random food I make in the kitchen. In general, as long as there's at least one yummy veggie dish, I'll like the style of food.

edit: how could I forget falafel, hummus, tabbouleh and baba ganoush..? Though I keep being told these are sort of general Mediterranean foods so I'm not sure whose cuisine they really fall under.
edit2: Although I could happily do with some nice brie, a baguette and some red wine at any time.

I dare someone to hate on a plate of fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, biscuits and gravy. If you hate that, you hate freedom and the terrorists totally win.

I don't hate on it, but eew. I never liked fried chicken and now that I haven't eaten anything like that for several years, the thought almost makes me gag. Macaroni and cheese is good if it's made from scratch instead of a box and well, everyone has biscuits.

sushi might just be the most delicious thing on the whole planet! (sushi rolls actually. not just strips of fish on rice. those are to acidy)

Heh. In my general books, usually sashimi > nigiri > inari > maki > oshi > chirashi >>>>>>>> funazushi/narezushi

That's because you haven't tried the amazing food riches of Asturias. A ''fabada'' with a good glass of red wine is an amazing meal.
