I want to know what a 'suitable node' is, why Southeastern trains have them, and why, if they're so important, they don't have any for me when I try to access their website.

Southeastern;s website never works. Seriously it doesn't. They should find some new servers or something.

Yeah, I remember this from last year. It's like leaves on the line - you would have thought they would have realised by now that this happens around this time of year, and do something about it.

Ha. After struggling with itself for 10 minutes, National Rail Enquires has now decided that it has also run out of nodes.

I just want a node. Is that so much to ask? :(

Hi five to everyone who doesn't have to go School/Work today in London and the SE!

Extra sleep for me.... then snowball fights!

My partner has got the day off, her workplace isn't opening today, good for her as she really needs some rest, so taking it easy. Our tube line is working but with "Severe Delays" as we are on the underground stretch but it surfaces further out.

The only thing is I have a lecture later, so I hope it clears by this afternoon...

I'm slightly pissed off as I had a job interview today. I'm hoping buses have a limited service by midday so I have a chance of getting to it. I love snow, but not on the day I have a job interview!

Though University has been cancelled so that's a start.

Trains are cancelled not because they arent running, but because the drivers and guards get get to work :L

Also, most airports are shut, and air traffic control is a breaking point according to the news.

My college is still open, but my area has been hit badly, so screw that. Only cars I've seen today are the police too.

Actually, well over half the network is above ground, so it's just as susceptible to the weather as other trains.

Which is, apart from the Waterloo and City line, the only one completely underground.

Although, given it's usual service, it being on time is still a minor miracle, bad weather or no bad weather. :)

I live half an hour walk away from my office so I made it in. Of course it wouldn't have made too much difference if I had ended up working from home. Quite a few people haven't made it in though and I think our lectures may be cancelled today on quite a few of the courses (certainly our Masters since both our students and lecturers often come from quite far away).

On the other hand my driving lesson this morning was unsurprisingly cancelled *grrr*

It's not meant to snow in London!

It's quite exciting, in a way, but as there are no buses I am essentially stranded at university, currently drying my socks in the computer room. We made a bunch of snowpeople, and married two of them in an informal ceremony (being students, one person then tried to make them copulate, whereon they disintegrated). The squares all around are packed with snow and so there are snow figures on every corner - it's kind of creepy!

As I was walking in I got ambushed in an alleyway by little children throwing snowballs, but they all missed me, fortunately, as I was not in the mood for that. But then we did snowballing, and it was just so much more cultured and mature, and hence allowed.

All in all, I cannot remember London ever being like this, and certainly not so the buses shut down. I'll enjoy it while it lasts but I hope it clears soon, it'll be a pain if things keep getting cancelled.

Geophysics pratical cancelled, were going to review rests on the computers. Lecturer didn't turn up for half an hour, so me and two mates pissed off over to one of the campus's eating places and had a fry-up.

After that, snowball fights on the way home and then I built a snowman with one of my housemates.

I did fall over on the way to uni though, which wasn't brilliant, but funny.

I'll be honest, on my drive to Traverse it was pretty white-knuckle the whole way. When your car is rear-wheel drive and weighs 35lbs it doesn't like staying on the road. I couldn't shake the image of my little car sliding off the road into Lake Michigan, to be eaten by a particularly large rock bass and never found.

I must say I enjoyed my snow day after the initial hiccup. Went over to campus to see friends and then to the big field behind it. Built a huge snow fort with the legs of chairs embedded into the front wall to stop and full on charges and the got the goalposts and moved them either side of our main wall so we could not be flanked, though still had enough space to retreat if necessary. We were outnumbered 5 to 1 and we won! They tried taking the fort but we fought valiantly until their spirits were broken.

Then after that, I've hung out with friends for the past 13 hours starting out as a chillout time into an all out party.
