So, anyone here into flashlights? Purchasing them, collecting them, modding them, creating them, etc? I ask because I think I'm going down that road. I currently have a black 4D cell Maglite, a black Mini-Maglite, cheap Dorcy 1w flashlight, and have a Surefire 6P on the way. I have nothing on my roommate though, as he has more flashlights than me. He's not on Nationstates though, so I'm wondering, am I the only flashaholic on NS?

Well, take the D cell Maglite for example. People have made metal reflectors to replace the plastic one, converted them to a myriad of LED options, put a glass lens on (some with anti reflective coatings, to give better light transmission), converted the bodies to take AA adapters (2-4 AA cells in the space of 1 D cell), made cuts into the body for a different style, made different tail caps, etc.

Most of the mods I've seen for flashlights I've found on the Candlepower forums.

As an example, this flashlight was modded from the husk of another flashlight.

I have four Maglites, and a really big torch by some obscure German company (not in my house right now to check the make). I haven't personally 'modded' any of them - I just like having all different sizes - but I have a friend who is fanatical about that sort of thing. He once spent a week working on a Maglite - while the rest of us were on holiday.

Hmm, what a strange hobby. I have 3, 1 watt Lasers from some printers. I was planning to make a cigarette lighter but now you've given me other ideas.

I think you all need to get out more.

Anyway. I have a huge ass maglite that hasn't worked in years. I use it as a paper towel holder, so I'm not entirely sure why I'm even bothering to post in this thread.
