Signs of the times.

I like the idea of the "produce the note" as the papers change hands so many times that the owner is not known.

One thing that is interesting is that Toledo says they are not in a recession; they have a depression.

This should annoy the "truly free market is holy" types.

Note this is a video story from cnn. They haven't posted the text version yet.

Toledo's been in a depression since well before the credit crunch--the fundamental problem has been a terrible education culture, and overreliance on light support industry for the automobile companies up North and relative isolation from the main other economic centers of Ohio.

Did not know that. Don't have any relations near there. Now if you want to talk about Detroit? Well my relations were a 4 generation auto people. My cousin left it and my uncle retired.

I give my cousin credit for being able to see the "writing on the wall"....

One of the things that is going to come out over the coming months is that nobody really knows who 'owns' what.

The shitty banks are not only incompetent when it comes to deciding who should be loaned what, they are also incapable of processing paperwork. With the huge chain of transactions from writing the mortgage to is being resold/securitized/collateralized, in many cases it is unclear who actually holds the liens/titles/whatever.

I guarantee that people will end up with free houses from this.

Produce the note! Lol, I like this gal. Some of what this is all about makes sense to me. Even bankruptcy lawyers are saying its up to a year before you get the knock on the door from the local police telling you to leave.

This was happening in Southern Colorado in the late eighties with the mess produced by Silverado.

The free market is holy.

It is the deviations from a free market that are responsible for the current situation, and the only way out is to eliminate them.

All economic problems are caused by the inability of resources to flow to where they are the most productive. The single cause of this is government intervention in the market.

My opinion of the matter is if the bank cant produce the proper paper work showing they own the property then possession is 9/10th's of the law.

Rather than the rampant greed which basically defined the last few years in certain areas of the economy?

It was selfish greed on the part of those who did not engage in coercive favor-seeking that kept it from being as bad as it could have been.

It's hopefully only a matter of time before the banks call in the cops on this and drag those squatters out of those houses and teach them a lesson. Can't afford something? Don't buy it. You are not entitled to the good life just because you were born in America.

How old are you?

Twenty-something. Er, fourty-two or maybe fourteen. I don't know. It's been a while since I had to answer that question. But I'm almost sure I'm under seven because I play M games and a lot of the servers have strict anti-cursing policies because of people like me.

I've been squatting for months. Not because of housing, but because all my chairs were repossessed in November.

I'm just going to leave the room now, and we'll all pretend this never happened.

The banks are unable to provide the proof that they own the house. What right does the bank have to have the squatters evicted if they cannot prove ownership?
