Conservation doesn't seem to hold much of a concern here. most people are primarily concerned with making their nation a greater one using any means possible no matter the consequences to the people. Also, more academic pusuits seem not to hold any sway with the more financially concerned players. But, I am new and would like to know wether my concerns are founded.

Depends on the person, I hold Conservation as a concern, you'll probably find most posters here are...

however, Alot of nations are there specifically to create a Dystopia for entertainment purposes...

I think it really depends on the context of how you like to run your nation, I, personally try and run my nation as close to how I would want it in the real world as possible, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt...

But, if you want to run an Utra-Capitalist or Radical-something else Dystopia just for the lulz, so to speak, then it would then appear as if you dont support Conservation, regardless of whether you actually do or not, lol...

Um...or one could be a conservationist. Conservation= protecting wild parts of a country from development and pollution, ya? You can be liberal or conservative and still be a conservationist!

Um, sense of humor sale, aisle 5. Anyway, Conservative: one who wants to preserve a way of life. Same motivation, different target for conservation.

these are flaws in the underlying concept of the game. in most games similar flaws exist intentionally for one reason or another, often entertainment value.

i would imagine most people here don't even notice, and most of those who do, don't seem to much to mind, being also products of a similar cultural perspective.

to give credit where its due, i don't think these factors have been ignored entirely, but the underlying game context, or so i've been led to believe over the years, was based on the keep it small and keep it simple principle, or more to the point, at least in the biggining there just wasn't, and maybe still isn't, the person-time-power, to integrate them into play in some semi-accurate resemblence of reality way.

i've been here a reasonably long time and share this disappointment. as my own focus is not on conflict, which most who come here, appearantly from a game playing perspective, seem not to share, is on building infrastructure, the kind people can actually put to good use, in an environment that is both sustainable and in which they can persue real and lasting gratification in ways that are reasonably likely to resault in their finding it.

questions somewhat beyond those of mere gratifying game play.

maybe, someday, somewhere, someone will address them honestly, AND make something that will attract people to learn by playing.

maybe someday, what we call western civilization will colapse rendering the former question moot. both possibilities are more real then most people i think, honestly consider.

then again, many people on here DO look deeper then they play. another aspect is the oregin of the site having to do with a series of books, whose thrust, from what i'm able to gather from the free sample passages offered, is/was, primarily that of satyre.
