It Couldn't Have Happened to a More Deserving Man
Uwe Boll to be Awarded Lifetime Worst Career Achievment Award. (http://www.gamespot.com/news/blogs/sidebar/909182374/26757104/uwe-boll-given-lifetime-dishonor-by-razzies.html?tag=latestheadlines;title;3)
Almost as prestigious as the Darwin, Uwe Boll will be given a dishonor that puts him in an elite club that includes members such as Bruce The Rubber Shark (Jaws), Linda Blair (The Exercist), and Ronald Reagan.

How bad are his films?
Pretty damn bad. He made Alone In The Dark and cast Tara Reid as some sort of genius scientist(I think, I didn't actually see the movie myself, but I heard about it from a good buddy of mine.)
I saw In The Name Of The King for free while I was sick with the flu and I still felt ripped off. Although Burt Reynolds and Jason Statham did alright, I think.
How bad are his films?
He mainly makes movies lossely based off of video game plots. It is difficult to describe what makes them bad, but the way his movies come together is like a train wreck; difficult to stir away from but something that you do not wish to experience again. Its an effect similar to movies like Jumper and Wanted, you just feel like you wasted time. He made a career out of filming these kind of movies.
How bad are his films?
He expressed interest in doing the Warcraft movie. Blizzard told him no, never, under no circumstances would he be allowed near their movie.

At this point, you should take the huge fuckin' hint and bow out from the industry.
I doubt Uwe Boll will bow out though.

I stayed away from these, so I can't compare them. Which would you say is worse, Boll's films, or Jumper and Wanted?

Uwe Boll is not the worst filmmaker out there, by a ridiculously long shot. In fact, it's probably better than most. The only reason he's loathed so much is because he makes his mediocre films from scripts adapted from computer games, which generally have legions of fanboys who'd shit all over any film adapted from their precious source.
If Uwe Boll made movies that weren't game adaptations, you wouldn't even know who he was. He'd just be another okay filmmaker.
Stop being sheep and hating him because it's fashionable. It's pathetic.

What? Your logic is so circular it makes me dizzy.

It's entirely possible that he hates him because Boll takes good concepts with decent stories behind them and turn them into the equivalent of Sci-Fi original movies. Uwe has butchered a lot of decent stories and made it so that people don't take movies that were based off a video game series seriously. He's a hack and only in business still due to a tax loophole in German law.

The loophole no longer exists, iirc. Hasn't for quite a few years. He's in business because his films make money.
EDIT: Oops, guess this isn't the case afterall.

I don't care if it was a match flame; I don't flame people and I'm in no mood to put up with it today. I reported it, its totally up to the mods if anything is done, and I don't particularly care if I look like a baby for doing it.
The point of this thread I should probbaly have made a bit more clear is not precisely to talk about whether I dislike Uwe Boll or not, its about how he is the first person to win the particular award in 21 years. Its historically important.

Oh, it's just regular logic. Bleating on and on about how Uwe Boll isn't that bad of a director and people just hate him for the sake of hating him has become trendier than just hating him for his shit movies.

His films flop, but they make money for him, the rest of the film crew, and his investors. If I were in Uwe's position, I guarantee you that I'd never stop.

And this is the sensible approach. No one forces you to see an Uwe Boll movie, and since he never produces anything good, you can't very well complain that you were "tricked" into see the movie.
He expressed interest in doing the Warcraft movie. Blizzard told him no, never, under no circumstances would he be allowed near their movie.
Same with Kojima and Metal Gear. He had a few choice words about that... :)

I hate Uwe Boll not because it's fashionable, but because of all the films of his that I saw, I have yet to find ONE that I can call decent. other filmmakers I've seen had at least ONE.
the sad thing is, I'll still probably see his movies hoping to find that one decent one.
and what movies of his did I see?
House of the Dead
Alone In The Dark
Bloodrayne
Bloodrayne 2
Seed
Postal: The Movie
In the Name of the King
And the sad thing is I'll still probably rent and see
Zombie Massacre
BloodRayne 3
Sabotage 1943
The Storm (2009)
Far Cry
Alone in the Dark II
:(
You all are so clueless - when are you going to figure out that I'm Uwe Boll...

You won't. Uwe Boll makes bad movies (probably on purpose) just deal with it. He isn't a sneaky bastard, like Hitchcock who would make a terrible movie (like Dial M for Murder) to hide among his good work.

It's a shame he didn't publically declare going for a Halo license. I could imagine Microsoft taking out a hit on him.

ah, but the thing is...
House of the dead had a pretty good gunfight... and the asian chick was pretty easy on the eyes.
Postal had it's funny moments, but not much to counter the rest of the movie.
so...
I'm just a glutton for punishment... :(
The sole reason he's making money is because the German government subsidizes most or every German movie (don't know the details behind the law).
Mind-boggling.

I hate him because he's a con artist, plain and simple.
Uwe Boll is one of the greatest trolls that has ever existed. A man who produces poor quality films solely for tax purposes, and then gives us all a good laugh as butthurt fans of the movie's "inspiration" rage about it on IMDB. Truly a hero for those of us that like a good laugh at the expense of others' completely ridiculous anger.

No, I hate him because he shows an absolute disregard for the source material; moreso than any other director. I hate him because he knowingly abstains from any sincere effort to make a decent movie.
Watching his movies is a lot like being in a car wreck. You can listen to the victims and get an idea about how bad it is, but the only way to understand how bad it is it to watch the movies or floor the accellorator while driving into a tree.
His movies were a bigger crime against their source materials than the Super Mario Bros. Movie was against Super Mario Bros. Take away the title and names and the movie would literally have nothing to do with Mario Bros.

of this, I have to disagree. at least they had Mario, Luigi, Yoshi and Princess Daisy. ;)
They were always plumbers, and the Original Mario Bros was not in some fairy land but a world of bricks and Pipes.
Don't get me wrong, it was still a horrible movie...
But it is still more faithful to the games than Ewe Bolls works. ;)
